Today, I went for an eye examination and consultation with an ophthalmologist to check my visual acuity and get some advice and answers to my questions.
When I arrived at the clinic, I was a little worried that the doctor would deliver a verdict like, "Sorry, but with your vision, they won’t take you there,"
and I felt a slight disappointment.
So, I walked into the doctor's office, mentioned that my left eye sees slightly worse than my right, and said that all my relatives wear glasses 💀. At that moment, I thought to myself that my vision was probably the same and that my dream would never come true...
The doctor used some device to take pictures of my eyes and then had me read letters. I read the 10th line at the bottom well with both eyes, but the 11th was a bit of a stretch. Then she said, "Now I’ll put some (debilebgbgbflide) drops in your eyes and let you go." I thought: "Wait, that doesn’t sound right."
"And you’ll let me go?"
"Yes, for 15 minutes. You’ll have trouble seeing up close but will see well at a distance, and bright light will be uncomfortable."
"Okay."
After the stinging drops were administered (which turned out to be phenylephrine with tropicamide), I sat in the hallway and started realizing that I couldn’t focus on the text on my phone, my hand, or anything up close—my vision had gotten worse. The sensation was unusual and a little scary.
Then the doctor used the device again to take more pictures of my eyes and performed a manual examination of my retina using special lenses and a lamp.
The results showed that I have false myopia (pseudomyopia) due to overstrained eye muscles.
The device gave this result:
This results means minimum deviations from the norm (not taken into account).
But the manual examination confirmed that my vision, retina, and fundus are completely healthy!
She prescribed phenylephrine with tropicamide, some vitamins, gave me a few tips, and cleared me for flight! The chances of becoming a pilot are high! And besides... when it’s your dream, the chances are 100%!
I walked home so happy that my pupils were seriously dilated. 😆
P.S. This is what phenylephrine and tropicamide do with your eyes.
@WisconsinStatePolice thanks!

Ah, military aviation school makes sense that they’d be stricter and only want the best of the best. I am lucky to remain a civilian aviator and only serve in a volunteer auxiliary role. I wish you luck in whatever path you pursue friend!
@WisconsinStatePolice Ooooh) To get admission to study at a medical commission in a prestigious military flight school, you need to have a number of good, if not ideal, health parameters, including vision
Aye my brother had (has?) false myopia too
.
On my license, in the restrictions section it doesn’t even mention I need them. I got a my first class medical too, and it just says “Must use corrective lense(es) to meet vision standards at all required distances.”
My girlfriend has horrible vision amended by glasses, and she’s checkriding in like two weeks for her private pilot’s license.
You can be a pilot even if you need glasses (in America at least)

Weaknesses updated. New zany traps being designed as we speak.
Permission to keep that picture as a reaction image?

@32 Yes, you are right. Yesterday I wrote on emotions and was too inspired, without work there is nowhere and dreams remain dreams without any actions. I am already working on it!
lol no this is not true, if you believe that you can get what you want just because you want it you’re never gonna get there. You gotta set your mind to what you’re trying to do (be a pilot) and work for it. The dream is worthless without the ability to act on it. People are gonna tell you fluffy stuff like “if you believe in yourself you’ll get want you want” or “good things will happen to me if I’m a good person” but this is a quasireligious myth made up by upper middle class people that have never had anything bad happen to them.
I believe you can be a pilot, just gotta put in the work. Rooting for ya man
@X99STRIKER that’s not supposed to happen I’m pretty sure
EYE REVEAL??! ( ⊙_⊙)
luuucky
i got glasses and my eyes get blurry halfway down my arms without them.
My eyes work well enough but they feel kinda unfocused most of the time
