As I celebrate my 2 year mark here, I'm gonna reflect on SimplePlane's past and present community.
Before I even had an account (4-5ish years ago,) I noticed a lot oh high quality builds that got the upvotes they deserved instead of zero effort meme builds plastered across the front page. Now, not all meme posts are dumb and people still put effort into their builds, but what intrigues me is that it's the opposite: meme builds constantly get more upvotes and high-effort builds only get sub 50 at their highest, sometimes higher if it's really good.
I've also noticed a rise in cool, sarcastic, and funny people on this site, for example, @Monarchii and @TheMouse (you should go check them out.) I personally think this is cool to an extent, but with the rise of gen alpha and skibidi toilet and whatnot, trolls and just brainrotted kids have found their way into this site that are more prominent. And remember the amount of mod activity back in the day? Truly wild how times have changed.
Anyway, that was my 2 year special yap sesh. I hope that you enjoyed reading my short essay.

@Monarchii I wasn't that much of a build stalker (someone who checks other people's past builds) back then so I missed both the Takao and the carrier * cri* but yes, sometimes its the builds that finish faster that get attention. I may even have to revamp my USS Bremerton (because AZL waifu Heh~) since i think it wasnt that well known when I built it

The meme builds truly are taking over. My coke can is a perfect example, its a quick build and is on the front page yet planes put a lot of effort into like my BS61 series struggle to make it into the 20-29 upvote range

Honestly I think that’s just how SimplePlanes has always been. There has always been an ebb and flow of quality getting attention and then humor getting attention. From A.W.F.U.R and Worms 7 years ago, to drama about Anime Girl Clickbait 5 years ago, there’s always something happening.
