On The Topic of a Miniscule Quantity of Tomfoolery

when the ai does a little trolling of its own

The crew wagons are currently 490 parts; I'll only add a couple more details onto them for a final count of around 500. The locomotive sits at 850 right now but it is currently sorely lacking detail.

The original plan for this was to have an 18-unit armored train, consisting of two diesel-electric locomotives and 16 cars of various types. The more I progress on the project the less likely that becomes, because even if the cars are only 500 parts each, that's still 8,000 total, in addition to the two locomotives which will likely be around 1,000 or so each, for a grand total of 10,000 parts. That is something my PC absolutely will not enjoy.

I have also begun writing lore and specifications for what I call the Magnus-class Armored Railway Cruiser.

These leviathans of the tracks are purpose-engineered armored trains built to bolster the defensive capacity of the Grand Army of the Republic of Aurum. They are driven by one or two Redstone Heavy Industries RT2000L “Vanguard” diesel-electric locomotives depending on the configuration of the cars. The RT2000L itself is a beast, being designed for Aurum's unique 2,373mm Large Standard Rail Gauge. It sits on a trio of three-axle trucks, all axles powered. Energy for the traction motors comes from two Redstone Machinery Works D24/D239 turbo-compound diesel engines, specifications below. A Kerlonceaux Motorworks VDT2500 turboshaft producing 2500hp is also present for an additional power boost. Power output from the generators is 6,900hp (5,145kW) under diesel power and 9,400hp (7,010kW) under full diesel and gas power; the RT2000L's traction motors are rated for a maximum speed of 210km/h, but electronically governed to no more than 140km/h on non-high-speed rail lines. The system is akin to Integrated Full Electric Propulsion for maritime vessels, making use of both diesel and gas turbine generators to drive electric propulsion motors.

Redstone Machinery Works D24/D239:
Engine Specifications:
-Configuration: Four-Stroke, Turbo-Compound, Deltic
-Bore: 120.72mm
-Stroke: 195.41mm (x2)
-Cylinder Count: 24
-Displacement: 107.358L (107.4 for official purposes)
Power Output:
-Max. Shaft Horsepower: 4277 @ 2100rpm
-Max Continuous shp: 3450 @ 1750rpm

A full-size configuration for a Magnus-class ARC consists of:
1 - Leading-End Car
2 - Rail Repair Equipment Car
3 - 280mm Long-Range Howitzer Car
4 - Ammunition Car
5 - Air Defense Car
6 - RT2000L "Vanguard" Engine
7 - RT2000L "Vanguard" Engine
8 - Crew Car
9 - Crew Car
10 - Crew Mess and Lounge Car
11 - Crew Supplies and Armory Car
12 - Air Defense Car
13 - Long-Range 155mm Artillery Car
14 - Long-Range 155mm Artillery Car
15 - MLRS Car
16 - MLRS Car
17 - RT2000L "Vanguard" Engine
18 - Trailing End Car

Notes:
-The Leading and Trailing End Cars will mount a 125mm smoothbore gun in an unmanned turret in addition to two remotely-operated 25mm autocannons and two manned GAU-19 .50 rotary machine guns.
-The Air Defense Cars will be armed with two GAU-19 rotary machine guns, and two 20-cell vertical launch system modules containing [an upscaled Miniature Hit-To-Kill equivalent intended for short to mid range interception].
-The 280mm Long-Range Howitzer Car will mount a single 280mm howitzer in a limited-traverse mounting (~30 degrees maximum) and will be intended for use in delivery of tactical nuclear warheads. It will be based on the M65 atomic cannon. Maximum range will be around 250km
-The Long-Range 155mm Artillery Cars will have two advanced 155mm autoloading gun systems in unmanned turrets. The artillery pieces will be designed for use with a modular Electro-Thermal Chemical charge system and will have a maximum range of around 180km with boosted shells.
-The MLRS Cars will be armed with four modular Multiple Launch Rocket Systems. Standard configuration will be similar to the M270 MLRS, intended to fire a small number of large-caliber rockets containing a significant number of submunitions to cover large target areas. Maximum range will be around 300km.

With the 2,373mm Large Standard Rail Gauge, the Republic must use every expenses to create large tunnels, bridges, and other infrastructure to accommodate them and is usually very expensive. The Republic also cannot directly import other locomotives (e.g. GE diesel electric locomotives) and, if it did, modify the wheels into the appropriate length, which is pretty much useless and expensive. There is also a similar broad gauge railway being developed, namely by Nazi Germany; it’s called the (Breutspurbahn)[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breitspurbahn] and it has a pretty similar 3000mm gauge.
