welcome to part 2 of however many of these ill make until the thingy is done

since the last phorum (3 monts ago) 1.11 was released and ive had a bit of time to learn the new parts & stuff. this post will simply be tallying progress towards completion as well as some ideas i have to get this thing to a properly functional state.

recent stagnation

in the last 3 or so months ive taken time away from the tomcat to make some lower effort builds, not only to learn the new parts, but also to keep me from getting burnt out on the project. i have made incremental additions & changes in between other builds, though some work is needed to allow more functionality to be possible (converting legacy ft to variables). in the future i have no idea how much time ill dedicate to progressing it forward but at the very least it will be going in some direction this year.

the flight model

since the beginning of the project i wanted for it to fly as realistic and accurate to the real f-14 as possible. in its current state, the model has basic performance roughly down (ala speeds, turn rates, etc), though not in a place id call finished. it also lacks a few of the specific behaviors at certain envelopes of flight, which is second field to its core handling. the trouble is i need to 100% finish the model before i can start making the afcs or some functions of the cadc.

future plans and ideas

i do have some concern over the performance cost as its roughly 4100 (i do want this to get curated). i have considered rebuilding some parts of the aircraft to reduce the cost down, though a lot of it comes from necessary mechanical parts such as the wings or gear.

like i said last forum i plan on having multiple versions of the aircraft- basic cockpit, full cockpit, and now a few with armament (2x2x2+xt, 2sw+xt, etc). some part of me says i should have the basic version be the only one curated, though thatll be up to when its finished.

for the moment though, my current focus is tuning up the flight model to be where i want before i start on anything else though knowing me ill probably start on a handful of things before then
