Su-11 Teaser

Coming soon, the mighty Sukhoi Su-11, NATO designation, "Fishpot-C"! Before OKB-53, the Sukhoi design bureau, designed the Su-27, they produced a series of interceptor aircraft, the Su-9, Su-11 and Su-15 which served with the PVO (Voyska Protivovozdushnaya Oborona Strany, Soviet Air Defense Forces) defending the Motherland against the Capitalist hordes and their B-52s, Vulcans and Mirage IVs. These jets were all optimized for high altitude, Mach 2+ speeds in the interception role. This particular build represents the ultimate version of the single engine Su-9/11 series of aircraft, before being replaced by the otherwise quite similar twin-engine Su-15, "Flagon".

This build features:

Working Mach and G meters in a cockpit with an accurate cockpit view. The Mach meter is accurate (assumes standard day conditions, 15 degrees C at S.L. and -2 degrees/1000' lapse rate)!

Cockpit View

Mach effects have been incorporated for both the shock cone, which operates between Mach 1.5 - 2.2, as well as reduced turn rates when flying in excess of Mach 1.0.

Buffeting has been incorporated with increasing angles of attack. Light buffet is good, heavy buffet is bad.

Airbrakes

1:1 scale, accurate weights, fuel quantity, performance (Mach 2.2 at 41,000' / 12500 meters), turn capability with energy loss, accurate maximum ceiling (mid-60,000' / 19,800 meters), takeoff and landing distances.

Two beautiful R-98MT/MR (NATO designation: AA-3 "Anab") missiles built by none other than FairFireFight. Accurate in range, speed and maneuverability they have very narrow targeting angles representing the frustration Soviet PVO pilots must have felt with their rigid Ground Control(led) Interception (GCI) doctrine.

Missile Shot

And no gun! As with so many 1960s interceptors, the F-102, early F-4s and the Sukhois, this one didn't carry a gun, relying solely on imperfect missile armament. Imagine the frustration having spent your missiles on the two missiles per target shot doctrine and not having a gun...no wonder it was accepted Soviet/PVO doctrine to RAM YOUR TARGET when out of missiles!

Cockpit Aft

Happy hunting and fly safe!

It doesn't seem to be doing it now, I think it was just a glitch @ChiChiWerx

@CRJ900Pilot ok, that is a bit strange.

No what I'm saying is that once I fire all of a weapon (one on each side of fuselage), say the AIM7, it rolls despite the fact its balanced on both sides @ChiChiWerx

@CRJ900Pilot you don’t, at least there’s no great way to fix it. The autoroll starts because when a missile is fired, weight is removed from that side of the build and the heavier side causes the build to roll in that direction. The issue is that SP is way more sensitive to weight imbalances than IRL. I’ve flown airplanes that were imbalanced to the tune of 1,500 lbs and while it may have been a small handful on takeoff or landing, it wasn’t a big deal once airborne as you could trim it out. Likewise, when an F-15 fires an AIM-9 off one side, it absolutely doesn’t cause a noticeable rolling moment. You could try and add a way to adjust roll trim, but it doesn’t work that well. My F-20 actually has that feature on the VTOL slider for when one of the wingtip missiles are fired. Try it out, you’ll see it doesn’t work perfectly.

I noticed a slight issue when firing the missiles I built, @ChiChiWerx . Whenever I fire some of the weapons, but not all, there becomes an autoroll. Idk how to fix this

The F-4C phantom. The best I could find were max ranges and speeds, but apart from that nothing. If we can’t find more than that, it’s not that much of an issue. I’ll just make the missile’s performance plausible @ChiChiWerx

@CRJ900Pilot actually, much of that is classified, even though I’m pretty sure the AIM-9B is no longer in service anywhere. But other versions of the Sidewinder are in service, which explains why you might be having some trouble finding those numbers. The AIM-7D I don’t think is in service, being superseded by the AIM-120, so might be easier to find some declassified numbers. As far as ranges, I suggest you use the kinematic range of the missile as it greatly depends if the shot is fired head on or during a tail chase. Lock on time is also highly dependent on a number of factors, including the aircraft radar. Which build are you making?

Sorry to bother you, but I need some help on the AIM-9B and AIM-7D missiles. More specifically, the max and min range and lock time, as well as the maneuverability of both

1960's plane ditching guns for guided missiles is one reason why I love the F-104 so much , they didn't ditch the gun , instead they just said "hey why not both".
Great plane , can't wait for it

@ChiChiWerx The first time on the first teaser was because you didn’t reveal what it was and I said that as a joke, because of the low quality plane that everybody upvoted a couple days ago, and then I just kept it going.

@PETG that's the second time you've mentioned "German Corsair"...I'm not following what you're trying to say, if it's for me, or for someone else. Care to explain?
