Custom Landing Gear: How To?

18.7k Thelegitpilot13  4.7 years ago

Hello!

I’m currently experimenting with custom landing gear, and I was just looking to see if I could get a few pointers. If anyone is well versed in custom landing gear, leave some tips down below!

Thanks all!

@jamesPLANESii @KDS would you guys like to be tagged in a build to test out the custom gear?

To keep the strength up set the mass of your rotators to be high, and to make it look realistic, just copy off real landing gear and see what they look like @Thelegitpilot13

    1. Rotator with input set to gear
    2. Stick
    3. Wheel
    4. Set all to non collision

    Done. It’s literally that easy.

@KDS I’m already experimenting on my own, I was just asking for some tips and tricks. Like:
    .
How do you keep the strength of the gear up, even when it wants to fold over?
    .
    Or:
    .
How can you make it look as realistic as possible?
    .
As of current, I’m retrofitting my F/A-18E with custom landing gear (might post it as an unlisted aircraft when I’m done) as well as working on it for the Saab 37 Vikken and Fictional craft like the CFA-44 and XFA-33
