Dev Notes (2016-01-22)

It's been two weeks since we posted, so here's the scoop on the last two weeks of development.

Andrew

Wrapped up the mobile update and it is now available on iOS, Google Play, and Amazon. The update is still waiting for review for the Mac App Store. I'm going to start working on new parts now for the next big update. Today I'm prototyping a resizable wheel part.

Nathan

Wife had a baby so he's taking a few weeks off.

Philip

Finishing up the controller input overhaul that Nathan started since he's a little tied up at the moment. Improved the stability of the game and improved logging so now we are better equipped to help players troubleshoot if any new issues arise.

Kevin

Finished modeling out some new parts which should be in the next big update. Now he's working on some new places to fly.

Joey

Getting up to speed with the project and also working on some new places to fly.

    @AndrewGarrison i am probably not the first one to mention this, but could you add VTOL as an input for control surfaces and thus make it possible to create flaps without those bulky rotators? Most of my planes are light aircraft and don't have enough space for these, so I would really appreciate this option.

    @AndrewGarrison @WalrusAircraft something similar to that (interactive environment) that would be fun is different effects when bullets hit the ground. They make a barely noticeable little poof. It would look really cool if when you shot at the dirt it made big poofs, like 5-7 blocks high. And same for the water, except a whitish blue color?! Not sure how easy that would be mr Garrison, but it's just a little idea I had in my noggin

    @WalrusAircraft I agree and we are working on some new places to fly and some more interactive stuff on the new places and maybe the old places as well.

    @AndrewGarrison - One of the constant themes I've seen on the YouTube channels is the need to interact with the environment more. Can you consider adding a building that falls apart or a train that goes around the island that we can interact with? I would not worry about users misrepresenting or pushing their geopolitical agendas into the game. We will manage that. I just want more things to interact with. A tunnel to fly through, a train that goes around an island, a plane we can shoot down, or an indestructible airship that we can land on. Add I strongly believe adding Easter eggs will bring a level of excitement. Expand the world and make it interesting. Sandbox mode is what rules this game and what has made it a success for you. I don't make public requests too often, but this is what I'm looking for. Your community is strong and such updates will make this game even more popular.

    @saxyplane @Thefalloutplayr Activation Group 8 is what RCN is bound to by default, and it's great for if you want to be able to de-activate something but want AI to use it.

    I am on an iPhone 6plus. Whenever I load a level or sandbox, activator 8 is already selected and activates anything equipped to it immediately. Restarting does not resolve the issue.

    Please add a way to put tanks and drones and things like that into sandbox. I mean, what is the point of having them if you can only use them in the training missions.

    Sweet! For the next big update could you add an option to make any specific parts of your plane (engines, blocks, intakes, landing gear, ect..) Stronger, weaker, or even indestructible? That would be great. Also, could you fix the bug (if it is a bug) where if you crash the plane but the engine is still onboard and turns on it won't propel you? Same with the wings, they won't function after a crash sometimes.. Thanks for reading!
