My father died of the colon cancer 6 years ago, one week exactly after my 11th anniversary. June 7, 2013. We learnt it in March and he passed away three months later, at 57 YO.

Just a little criticism : your informations seem to be wrong or incomplete. The accident was caused by many causes (thank you Captain Obvious). First, the meeting of the 6 planes was supposed not to happen, but GE asked them to fly together when they learnt all of them were in flight, because the 5 planes in formation (F-4, XB-70, F-104, and maybe F-5 + T-38) were equipped with GE jet engines. A sixth "chase plane" was here to take a photo, to make a good advertising for General Electric.
Then the F-104 rammed the Valkyrie (u already said why), killing its pilot, and the XB-70 fell down like a rock. The pilot was able to eject (and he did it) bit his copilot wasn't because of all the G's of the downfall of the plane. In conclusion : two men were killed and a several million dollars Mach 3 bomber prototype was destroyed because GE wanted a cool advertising picture. Thanks GE !
