@FGW2014 OK. It exhibits flutter at high speeds - if you increase the wing loading (by making the wings smaller or increasing the massScale of parts), this will go away.
@harveyrobinson8 There's one that lets you choose from among a bunch of backgrounds. It also has the blue galaxy background, though it looks a little blurry.
@ChiChiWerx The technique itself (sideways elongated fuselage blocks) is quite simple, you can see it evolving through Ghost, Viper, Sentinel and so on. The improvement I've made since then is that instead of painstakingly setting the dimensions and offsets by hand and assembling the build piece by piece, I now write scripts to do that for me. So I describe the shape, and the script writes the XML for the blocks with the dimensions and offsets it calculates, and connects them together. Then I just have to open the XML file in SP and add propulsion, wings, etc.
@Nukelord My long-range howitzers and mortars. Nothing beats the feeling when you hit a distant target with a ballistic shell, with a flight time measured in minutes.
@harveyrobinson8 You can always go back to making as many hoons as you like, and hoon the hell out of other peoples' peace and quiet in real life as well. I reserve the right to dislike that. You go your way, I go mine.
@DarthAbhinav You mean when you cut the engines by hitting 'Brake.' That's a side effect of the LaunchBoost technology. To avoid that happening, instead of cutting the engines, throttle down smoothly.
@harveyrobinson8 But I don't want to be loved by everyone, especially by people who don't appreciate my original work. And even more especially by people who are into "hoonicorns."
XML modding in SP is like developing new technology in the real world. The SR-71 wouldn't have been possible without many revolutionary breakthroughs, like the all-titanium airframe, custom fuel, special powerplants, etc. I wonder if other airplane manufacturers complained that Kelly Johnson was cheating. Or if men who were used to wood-and-canvas biplanes called it cheating when the first all-metal aircraft came along. Imagine if the rest of the world had called it "cheating" when Germany developed the jet engine and stuck to their "honorable" prop planes.
If you could get XML modding banned, the builds that get uploaded would be about one-hundredth as interesting as they are now.
Either get a device that supports XML modding and join the fun, or get together a bunch of iOS users and ask the developers to enable editing XML attributes in-game on all platforms.
@FlyingThings This is part of our continuing experiments with controlled erosion in hyperspace. If we can cause it to happen along the leading edges rather than the trailing ones, we may one day be able to stop it entirely.
@Nukelord If the timing is off, even torpedos will miss, because the ships aren't moving directly away from the Wright Airport spawn point, but parallel to the runway. Meaning, the angle that the torpedos would have to be fired at would change as time passes. I have other weapons that are aimable and can be used to hit the ships at any time.
@DJ123 Here's a tip: next time you want to make a request, don't start off by insulting the other person's entire body of work by saying "finally something different."
@RMark1 The 3d print-at-home market seems to be limited to machines that can print rough forms out of plastic. Machines that can print items with a smooth finish, especially in metal, will be very expensive for years to come.
Thanks, @temporaryaccount

Thanks for the compliment. This is... interesting. The reflections on this thing are crazy. Maybe make the fuselage/engine sections a little thicker?
@FGW2014 Sure
@harveyrobinson8 Can't help you there, I don't have it installed.

@harveyrobinson8 DesignerSpace, it's gone now.
@harveyrobinson8 Well, that's bad enough for me.
@harveyrobinson8 I don't know. But you like hoonicorns, which puts you on their side.
@harveyrobinson8 Uh, no it isn't. That's what hoons do.
@harveyrobinson8 Why do you find it insulting when I say I don't like hoons?
@Nukelord My long-range howitzers and mortars. Nothing beats the feeling when you hit a distant target with a ballistic shell, with a flight time measured in minutes.
@harveyrobinson8 You can always go back to making as many hoons as you like, and hoon the hell out of other peoples' peace and quiet in real life as well. I reserve the right to dislike that. You go your way, I go mine.
@jamesPLANESii Thanks, I appreciate the spotlight. Maybe I can return the favor someday.
@harveyrobinson8 Well certainly it includes you and everyone else who likes hoons. And I can say anything I please, especially if asked.
@Stingray Sounds interesting, congratulations on the new job.
@harveyrobinson8 No, as I said, I really, really dislike hoons, that's all.
@harveyrobinson8 Me back off? I'm not the one commenting on your post.
@Stingray Thanks. That's good to know, I didn't expect it to run well on tablets. How's life at Lockheed Martin?
@BaconRoll Yeah, I made this literally a few minutes after I uploaded the first one, then kicked myself for uploading in a hurry.
@DarthAbhinav You mean when you cut the engines by hitting 'Brake.' That's a side effect of the LaunchBoost technology. To avoid that happening, instead of cutting the engines, throttle down smoothly.
@Viperfox Sure thing. Could you explain a bit more? Or a sketch would help, if you can upload one somewhere.
@harveyrobinson8 No, I just have a deep, deep dislike of hoons.
@harveyrobinson8 But I don't want to be loved by everyone, especially by people who don't appreciate my original work. And even more especially by people who are into "hoonicorns."
@BenOwlet Sure, you asked nicely, that's all it takes. The world is full of jerks, 90% of success is simply not being one of them.
@BenOwlet Yeah, that's a cool name. I'll have to come up with something blacksmithy and fiery.
That's right, thanks, @Ihavenorealideawhatiamdoing
Thanks, @BaconRoll

@FlyingThings Thanks. I actually uploaded this too early -- you should see what its next iteration looks like.
You're welcome, @Aarons123
Nice work, @Aarons123
Impressive.
@DarthAbhinav Something like this, you mean?
Thanks, @DarthAbhinav
@DemonSniper8 Yeah, the 506 parts go towards the smoothness of the shape. That's the kind of detail that's not readily apparent.

@EternalDarkness Why bother, this has pretty much already gotten all the views it's going to get.
@EternalDarkness I would've, but I posted this just before heading off for work, so...
@FlyingThings If I made it point the other way around so that the torn bits were at the back, it would be more demonic, I think.
@DemonSniper8 Thanks, I don't know how either.
@DJ123 Here's a tip: next time you want to make a request, don't start off by insulting the other person's entire body of work by saying "finally something different."
@Nukelord You mean it's not epic enough?
@RMark1 The 3d print-at-home market seems to be limited to machines that can print rough forms out of plastic. Machines that can print items with a smooth finish, especially in metal, will be very expensive for years to come.
Well thank you, @FGW2014
@DarthAbhinav Didn't I just do one? And another one just before that?
@ACMECo1940 Here you go. I had to scale it up to accommodate the SpaceDrive.
@iLikeipads I like big builds...
