@Stingray That seems about right. It all depends on the muzzle velocity. A gun with a muzzle velocity of 500 has a range of 1 mile, so one with a muzzle velocity of 5000 (as on this plane) has a range of 10 miles. But at that range you can hardly see the target. With my plasma shotgun mounted on one of my spaceship-type builds, I've confirmed that you can hit a target 10 miles away with a gun that has a muzzle velocity of 5000. When flying an airplane, you have to take into account that you can barely see the target at 10 miles, and when you do see it, you have to aim and that takes time. So 6 miles effective range from an airplane sounds about right. If you used a very slow aircraft with very precise handling, you could increase that to the limit of visual range.
Now you've given me an idea for a beyond-visual-range howitzer. Using a spotter drone, you could hit a target at any range, with a high enough muzzle velocity, as long as it was line-of-sight.
@Davisplanez Does it actually work as described for you? I found out just now that it fires the missiles out of sequence, i.e. all the ones in the left pod first, then the ones in the right. It was working fine when I uploaded it, but not after the upload. Strange.
@EternalDarkness I can think of a mini-game using this concept: spawn in front of the Snowstone base, and shield yourself from its missiles while trying to take out the defenses.
@EternalDarkness Try accelerating while holding down FireGuns, it looks like a comet.
One fun use of this concept would be as a shell that you could launch at a target, then fire the guns when it's over it. Or a parachute-delivered weapon. Or, with a more regular fire pattern, a missile defense shield.
@Stingray Sure thing. You might want to make the instructions clearer for new users, though. For instance, it seems like the [1] [2] etc. refer to activation groups. Also, some users may not understand how to fire the laser cannons :)
@phanps Did you score any hits? This plane makes it so easy. I've included instructions in the description. You just have to fly level and release bombs as you pass over the target. Or just watch the video and do likewise.
@123Planebuilder The SR-71 pilots called it the Sled, because it was pretty much only good at one thing -- travelling very fast, in straight lines. They called themselves Sled drivers.
There's a great book called "Sled Driver" by Brian Shul, a former SR-71 pilot. Lots of great stories.
Here comes the train again
Rolling down the tracks like a memory
Rolling down the tracks like a new emotion
I want to fly in the open wind
I want to bomb like Stukas do
I want to stay out of the ocean
Cos thats not good for you
@EternalDarkness Thanks! This one's a lot easier to use and a lot more fun than the Schragebomber. And it carries 60 bombs instead of 20... have fun carpet bombing.
@123Planebuilder By the way, one missile isn't enough for that. The missile base has two laser guns which shoot down any incoming bombs/missiles, so you'll need to fire several missiles so that some can get past the lasers. Also, you can't fire all the missiles at once, because that puts them close together, so that when one gets blown up by the lasers, the others explode as well. You need to launch at least 3-4 missiles in a staggered fashion. I'll upload something in the next couple of days.
Thanks, @Stingray. Does it work correctly for you? The missiles should launch two at a time, one from each pod.

@Davisplanez Good to know. Still doesn't work for me, it's very odd.

@Jetpackturtle Which one? The first of the three default photos, or the one in the description?
Thanks, @chancey21
Thanks, @White67
Thank you, @Morel234
@KSPFSXandSP Yeah, wouldn't it.
@Tessemi Hinter is German for rearward. So, Rearward-bomber. Schragebomber = slant-bomber. Schnellbomber = fast bomber, and so on.
@FGW2014 You can already do that with my plasma shotgun. But I do plan to make a much better missile shield.
@SSSvaSSa Your prize is on the way, congratulations once again!
@tsampoy Don't forget the instant acceleration, 1000 - 3600 mph in 0.5 seconds.
@Tessemi I'm going to make a proper space version of this.
Thanks, @FGW2014. Missed your comment earlier.
@Vuki11 That feeling is what'll cause you to learn... embrace that feeling.
@Genterprizes Feel free.
@Vuki11 unique and cool, you mean...
@Vuki11 Bummer.
@Vuki11 Is she hot?
@RedstoneAeroAviation I can upload a low part count version if you like.
@Genterprizes Well it's not an airplane, so it doesn't have airplane-like engines. It's got some sort of fictional drives.
Well thank you, @Jetpackturtle

@Thederpingmemes What?
@Akali That's me, I'm the original smooth operator.
Thanks, @Davisplanez
Hi, @123Planebuilder
@KillerDread yeah, there are a few airplanes on sp inspired by Cutangus' work.
@123Planebuilder I guess they only print very limited editions. You can also watch Brian Shul's talk here, it's got some great photos and stories.
@123Planebuilder Ask him to look up the story called "Ground speed check." If he likes airplanes he'll love it (if he hasn't heard it already).
@123Planebuilder Sure.

@123Planebuilder ikr?
@EternalDarkness We build 'em strong here at SD Industries.
@123Planebuilder Yeah, I can make that. In the mean time, you can check out my bomb shotguns here and here.
@RailfanEthan Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
@EternalDarkness The M.Corp testing process seems quite... strenuous.

@EternalDarkness You glided down from 12 million kilometres? How long did that take?
@EternalDarkness Yeah, that's the other downside of carrying lots of bombs. Hope you enjoyed your trip into deep space...
@RailfanEthan Sweet beans? Good to see you around.
@EternalDarkness Thanks! This one's a lot easier to use and a lot more fun than the Schragebomber. And it carries 60 bombs instead of 20... have fun carpet bombing.

Don't thank me now, thank me when it's done :)
Thanks, glad you like it. @SpiritusRaptor
