@ThatWeirdGuy well, this isn't really a replica... And I've made replicas before. Congratulations on the new PC, it's one of the best investments you can make in yourself.
@SoulDestroyer9 No problem. My fastest posted aircraft that still has good control response is this one. I have a build that has unlimited top speed (I tested it to over one million mph), but I've never posted it.
@Bentendo316 Not bad, but needs more work. For instance, you could've made the glowy bit out of beacon lights. A bit more detail wouldn't hurt either, seeing as how it's such a simple shape.
how long did it take you to make this SR-71 BlackBird?
That's not an easy question to answer. To put it together only took about an hour. But this build is an evolution from previous designs, so you've got to count the work that went into those. I also had to write a couple of new scripts for this build: one to generate the corrugations, and another to create the text decals. But those scripts will be reused in other builds, so I can't count the work that went into them solely against this build.
would you be interested in making a Fighter Jet?
Always. I've made plenty of those, and plan to make a lot more.
@Starfox3206 OK, here's something you should know: a lot of people on this website act like I and my builds don't exist. In return, I act the same way towards them -- so please don't ask me to check out anyone's aircraft, unless you already know I'm friends with them.
@Starfox3206 I'm pretty sure that's not the case... I'd have heard of it. The SR-72 at the moment is just an artist's conception, and a few 3D renders. Not even close to a prototype. All the Mach 5+ air-breathing engines that have been built so far are limited to a few seconds of operation. In short, a Mach 5 sustained-flight airplane any time soon is very unlikely, and may even be impossible.
@Squirrel What I find interesting is that there's only one other person I've ever come across who uses periods to separate paragraphs, and that's "spaceyoter".
@Jetspeed1001 Well, the great thing about SimplePlanes is that you can always add your own decals/stripes to a build if you want. But don't worry, I've got some builds planned that will use color a bit more.
I can't understand attacking for how its made rather than the end result.
Is my phone not a marvelous engineering masterpiece because it wasn't made in tedious ways? Of course, its a phone if it was built by hand or not. But the non-hand made phone is more accurately assembled.
People need to accept that this is not about how it is built but how it turns out.
@Hedero No need to apologise. Being wrong about something isn't an offence. Just the fact that you listened to a reasoned argument and changed your position sets you apart from most people -- good on you.
But I'd like to emphasize that the build method shouldn't matter at all when judging the quality of a build. Only the end result counts.
@AZAMGAMING Well, when I invented this building style over two years ago, I was doing it by hand. But it soon occurred to me "this is really dumb, there has to be a better way." So I invented one -- using scripts to let me generate the shapes externally (outside the game).
@Simpleplaner656 It isn't invincible to everything, just gun bullets. There is a health property that you can set in XML. I set it very high by default because why not?
@CRJ900Pilot Good idea, I haven't built a canard configuration in a while. (Ever?) Speaking of canards, you might be interested to know that one of the designs considered for the Blackbird was a canard configuration.
@CRJ900Pilot Yeah, I was thinking of a re-entry vehicle when I built this. The center of lift would be all wrong with the wings so far ahead, but I thought the shape was interesting.
@Aarons123 Not at all. I was just trying out ways to scan 2D art and render it in SP, this is just a demo.
There are no accidents at SledDriver Industries :)

Welcome back, @ChickenMcNuggets007
@Prolex917 See the FAQ section on my profile.
@Tank6376 You call it "a bit much," I call it "fun."

Thanks, @IlikeToFlyandcrash
@Mumpsy Thanks, I do think this is my best one so far.
@Starfox3206 Hard to pick one, but this one is a strong candidate.
@Starfox3206

@Starfox3206 I don't do "projects," really. Whatever I feel like building, I complete it in one sitting.
@Starfox3206 Sure, why not.
@Stargazzer But of course :)
@IlikeToFlyandcrash I like it.
@Starfox3206 Well, I have two and a half years' worth of experience over you, so I ought to be :)
@Starfox3206 Look forward to seeing them.
@AWESOMENESS360 It's more about paying attention in Physics class :)
@CruzerBlade About 1000 mph at military power, 3600 mph at full afterburner (at sea level).
Not bad for a first build.
@Starfox3206 I'm pretty sure that's not the case... I'd have heard of it. The SR-72 at the moment is just an artist's conception, and a few 3D renders. Not even close to a prototype. Nice work, @Randomdoggo. You could've asked me, I'd have been happy to give you a direct link.
@CRJ900Pilot I used some color on this one. Happy now? :)
Thanks, @atgxtg
@Starfox3206 Thanks. As you can probably tell, the SR-71 is my favourite as well. As for the SR-72, that's still only a proposal, as far as I know.
@EliteArsenals24 Thanks. Not sure what you mean by "solid," though...
@Tully2001 The only thing I want from you, all your mod friends, and anyone else who thinks like you, is to not hear from you again :)
@Squirrel Whatever you say :)
@Squirrel Whatever you say :)
@Squirrel What I find interesting is that there's only one other person I've ever come across who uses periods to separate paragraphs, and that's "spaceyoter".
I'm sure that's strictly a coincidence :)
@Jetspeed1001 Well, the great thing about SimplePlanes is that you can always add your own decals/stripes to a build if you want. But don't worry, I've got some builds planned that will use color a bit more.
@Looney
That's right, Darth.

@Hedero Mimicking something I did over two years ago, and provided instructions for, is "serious competition"? You'll excuse me for yawning.
Other than that, anyone who thinks that not using scripts/mods is somehow better than using them is not someone I have time for.
Thanks, @Nuclearbomber36.
@AZAMGAMING Sorry, I just don't do the whole tagging thing.
@AZAMGAMING Well, when I invented this building style over two years ago, I was doing it by hand. But it soon occurred to me "this is really dumb, there has to be a better way." So I invented one -- using scripts to let me generate the shapes externally (outside the game).
Glad you like it, @loryfadda57
@Simpleplaner656 Oh, yeah, I forgot about that. I've discovered a way to make a build completely missile-proof. I'll post a demonstrator tomorrow.
@Simpleplaner656 It isn't invincible to everything, just gun bullets. There is a health property that you can set in XML. I set it very high by default because why not?
@AWESOMENESS360 Oh, it's definitely big.
Glad you found that interesting, @CRJ900Pilot - I've got quite a few more.
@AWESOMENESS360 Is that the F-1 engine from the Saturn V? It somehow looks small in that photo. This is my favourite photo of it.
@CRJ900Pilot Good idea, I haven't built a canard configuration in a while. (Ever?) Speaking of canards, you might be interested to know that one of the designs considered for the Blackbird was a canard configuration.
@Gameboi14 Target is clearly acting in bad faith. Do not engage. Repeat, do not engage.
@Texasfam04 As for your question, I'm kind of in love with my latest Blackbird and the Wyvern.
Thanks, @Smoothray. I thought it was pretty nifty too :)
Hey, @Texasfam04, good to see you too, where you been keeping yourself?
@CRJ900Pilot Yeah, I was thinking of a re-entry vehicle when I built this. The center of lift would be all wrong with the wings so far ahead, but I thought the shape was interesting.
