@DJ123 The only targets at 100-mile distances are on other islands. Given that the game engine only draws islands if there's a camera or cockpit present, you'll need something to fly to another island to make it appear. Then, because you can't see much further than 10 or 15 miles, you'll need something to be in the target area and observe your shells landing so you can correct your aim. This would normally be a spotter drone.
@WalrusAircraft Ah, work, how much better off we'd be without it. I wrote my scripts in JavaScript, because that's what I'm most fluent in these days. Ideally I'd implement it as a mod, but maybe later. I'll definitely release them soon, as soon as I can build a decent UI for them.
@WalrusAircraft have you tried my Phalanx and long-range mortar? They can take out the fleet and the Snowstone missile base from wright airport, respectively.
Your builds are very high quality, I would like to see more of them.
Here's a tip - you need something to make the game draw the other island while you're on one island, and also to direct fire - because you can't see the target beyond 10 miles or so. @DJ123
I have:
- A hovering bomb-shotgun that fires 9 bombs at a time, in a grid pattern
- Hovering autocannons that carry 100 bombs and fire them at 300 rpm
- Bomb-shotguns that fire 9 bombs in linear patterns, vertical and horizontal
- Airplanes that these bomb-shotguns are mounted on
@FGW2014 No weirdness intended. When you come across something beautiful, whether it's a sculpture or a dog, don't you want to run your hands over it? Nothing perverse about that.
@DemonSniper8 How about the Long Gun Howitzer, that can not just take out the fleet, but hit Snowstone, Maywar, and the Kraken from Wright Airport? Or the Flying Howitzer, that flies like an airplane and shoots four Boom 50s per second?
@DemonSniper8 There you go. Mobiles and tablets are no way to experience anything. Pro tip: if you shoot ships with the incendiary rounds, they don't even interpret that as an attack and don't shoot back.
@DemonSniper8 Incendius might be what you're looking for. It can hover in one position perfectly, so it's the most stable gun platform ever. Very easy to fly once you get the hang of the controls. You do need a keyboard to fly it properly, though. And it comes with 100 Boom 50s that it can fire full-auto in 20 seconds, incendiary rounds, and two powerful gatling-type cannons. It's invulnerable to the destroyers' cannon fire, and can evade or shoot down missiles with ease.
@RMark1 I meant that 3D printing itself is in its infancy right now, and to get the finish I'd like would be expensive -- the machines that can do this cost upwards of half a million dollars at the moment. CNC machining would be a better bet, a machine that could produce this would still cost about 100,000 dollars. If I could affordably rent time on one of those, I'd be happy to learn G-code (the CNC programming language) and write the programs to build things like these. I doubt there's much of a market for stuff like this, though.
@RMark1 Have I ever... but to get the printed product to have the proper precision and smoothness, at present, would be very expensive. Correct me if I'm wrong, though.
@DemonSniper8 All? I doubt that :) What would you like to see more of as mobile-friendly builds? Just things to fly around, or weapons/weapon platforms?
@DemonSniper8 I have quite a few mobile friendly builds. Selene, Baryon, Nebulus, Tenebrus, and Sentinel III are some among my more recent builds. My earlier builds were all mobile friendly.
@DemonSniper8 Anything that's a contiguous shape is generated in one go. I just set some variables and write some functions to describe the shape. This build, for instance, is one contiguous shape. My flying laser-bomber shark, on the other hand, has two shapes that make up the body, and three others for the fins. Each of those was generated separately. Once the shape is assembled, I add engines, wings, weapons, etc. manually.
@DemonSniper8 If you look at my older builds like Wolfsbane or Sentinel, you can see how they're made out of fuselage blocks turned sideways. At that time I was adjusting the dimensions and offsets manually, then I started writing scripts to let the computer do it. This lets me use much thinner fuselage blocks and absolute precision, which makes for these smooth surfaces.
I had something similar happen just now, I opened the panel with the list of builds, filtered it, and some items were just a blank space. I could click on the blank space and the build would load just fine, just the text was missing. Windows 7 SP1.
1) Don't panic.
2) Don't hijack someone else's thread to post your problems.
3) Be more descriptive -- say what you did, and what happened.
4) Don't tag mods or devs needlessly.
Do you have two vertical stabilizers on your aircraft? What you're describing happens when you use anything other than symmetrical wings (i.e. semi-symmetrical or flat bottom) for the vertical stabilizers. Click on the stabilizers and set the wing type to symmetrical, and the problem will go away.
@Rodrigo110 What you call a drawback is, to me, a benefit to me and even more so to other users. People can more easily find the version they prefer, and I get the satisfaction that my additional work was not in vain. As for clutter, if a build is good, it will get upvotes and stay on the "hottest" pages for a while; if not, it won't. Anyway, this is more time than I like to spend on what is, to me, a non-issue.
@Aarons123 Nicely done.

@ACMECo1940 No problem. Just link me to the ship you want to install my SpaceDrive in.

Yeah, that's what I meant.
@ACMECo1940
Good luck @DJ123
Never question a man who can build a howitzer accurate to over a 100 miles. @DJ123

Any further questions?
@DJ123
If I made one tenth of that I'd be building ActualPlanes @DemonSniper8
I already have lots of aimable weapons, the most accurate in SP, as a matter of fact. @DJ123
It's been said before @FGW2014
@DemonSniper8 so you're either as big as Facebook, or you're talking Zimbabwean dollars.
@DemonSniper8 Only $52 million, plus taxes. Cash or cheque? [toothy grin]

@ACMECo1940 Yes, really.
@Aarons123 Check out its predecessor, in that case, you might like that one too.
Impressive, @Aarons123
@ACMECo1940 What if I told you I could make your spaceship fly like this in 10 minutes?
Yeah it flies pretty well, doesn't it. @Henleytheloller
@Henleytheloller Well, saying that makes you awesome. Thanks again.
@Henleytheloller Thanks, reactions like yours are few and far between.
Thanks for the spotlight, @Tully2001

@temporaryaccount Nice. See, it's so much better when other people can understand what you're saying.
@temporaryaccount Thanks.
@KSPFSXandSP Of course.
@pk41382 I can, but I'm not sure if it's worth the effort.
@temporaryaccount Oh, so in one case scratch scratch means "it's new and you're impressed"; in another case it means "this is scary." Carry on.
