Them why do you keep coming back for more? You started it, now you can't handle the consequences. Once again, i did not ask for, and am not interested in your opinion. Why do you keep offering it? Go away, groupie. Actions speak louder than words. @MrDoolittle

  • Tortuous 7.7 years ago

Hmm. Well, tell me how many parts your device can handle, and what kind of design you like, and I'll see if i can come up with something. @ACMECo1940

  • SledDriver Will Beat SpiritusRaptor Soon... 7.7 years ago

Nope, you're just a wannabe groupie who'll take anything he can get from me, even if it's just condescension. The only cancerous people are the ones who can't take rejection and obsessively stalk the people who rejected them. @MrDoolittle

  • SledDriver Will Beat SpiritusRaptor Soon... 7.7 years ago

@MrDoolittle so you say, and yet you keep coming back for more... I'm the one who blocked you, remember? If I'm so unbearable why do you keep trying to draw me out? Do try to make sense.

  • SledDriver Will Beat SpiritusRaptor Soon... 7.7 years ago

That's what I said. English, do you understand it? And you started this, now you're complaining that I insulted you? Pathetic, truly pathetic. @MrDoolittle

  • SledDriver Will Beat SpiritusRaptor Soon... 7.7 years ago

You're the one who keeps coming back. I do love being condescending to people who deserve being condescended to. @MrDoolittle

  • SledDriver Will Beat SpiritusRaptor Soon... 7.7 years ago

And he's back for more. What you believe interests me not at all, and your pathetic attempts to draw me out interest me even less. Carry on, I know you can't help it.
    @MrDoolittle

  • SledDriver Will Beat SpiritusRaptor Soon... 7.7 years ago

@MrDoolittle A mod should definitely see this, I just find it hilarious that you think you're the wronged one here when you're the one calling me names and spouting your mental diarrhea all over the place.

"no one could love me?" You only think that because you don't understand that I'm only like this with nasty people like you. With nice people I'm twice as nice, and more people love me than I can love back. Go on, keep trying to dream up more pathetic insults. Just remember, when you speculate, you only reveal what's in your mind. Carry on, you just can't get enough of me, can you? Wannabe groupie, as I said :)

  • SledDriver Will Beat SpiritusRaptor Soon... 7.7 years ago

Oh look, the troll has exhausted his meagre arsenal. That's right. Leave me alone, and I'll leave you alone. And as a further example of your genius, you're tagging @TheLatentImage when you're the one calling me a c--- and an a--? Truly a shining intellect, @MrDoolittle

  • SledDriver Will Beat SpiritusRaptor Soon... 7.7 years ago

Don't feel bad, it's not your fault. These are nothing but wannabe groupies that I've spurned, and they'll do anything to try to engage me in conversation. @spefyjerbf

  • SledDriver Will Beat SpiritusRaptor Soon... 7.7 years ago

It's true then, hell hath no fury like a @MrDoolittle scorned.... I'm afraid i don't get your rap culture references, I move in different circles, I suppose. Yes, I didn't remember who you were at first, I had to look through my posts to find out. And yes, you still can't make factual arguments. Look at your last comment - two outright swear words, and a comment about my "second" job and implied poverty. That's just another example of your towering intellect, assuming I live in the same time zone as you. You're so intelligent, in fact, that when you're doing your pitiful best to insult me, you end up complimenting me instead -- if I'm working two jobs and still find the time to post a build (higher quality than any of yours) almost every day, I must be some kind of superman.

    > you act like I "want" to talk to you

Well, that's obvious to anyone with half a brain. If you didn't want to talk to me, you'd simply ignore me and not mention me. But you, obviously still smarting from our last encounter, call me an egomaniac on a public forum. What is that if not an attempt to engage me in conversation? And even now you still keep replying.

    > you lording your extreme intellect over me

I never claimed extreme intellect, but can I help it if you make me look like Einstein in comparison to you?

  • SledDriver Will Beat SpiritusRaptor Soon... 7.7 years ago

Note to the haters: I won't be replying for another 8 hours, as I'll be at work. If you can muster up one cogent argument in that time, I'd love to see it :)

  • SledDriver Will Beat SpiritusRaptor Soon... 7.7 years ago

@MrDoolittle "Lol" indeed. I didn't even remember who you were... you're obviously still obsessed with me. And just like previously, you still can't make any factual arguments, and can only resort to name-calling. Man-child indeed. Look who's talking! "Lol." Your maturity and intellect are staggering.

  • Lance 7.7 years ago

@Peekofwar Well, don't be intimidated; I've been at this for months. If you look at my earlier posts, those were all made by hand, but using the same technique of sideways fuselage blocks. If you take those apart, you'll get the hang of it. Building all those earlier aircraft by hand is what gave me the idea to automate the process using scripting.

  • SledDriver Will Beat SpiritusRaptor Soon... 7.7 years ago

@sexylips35 See, this is what happens when you create a post like this :) It gives the jealous ones an opportunity to spread their lies.

  • SledDriver Will Beat SpiritusRaptor Soon... 7.7 years ago

And for the record, I don't block people because of criticism, I block them for behaving badly.

    @spefyjerbf

I've built current-style aircraft, alien aircraft, futuristic aircraft, flying spiders and a hornet, a flying pig, howitzers, medieval-style cannons, mortars, spaceships, drones, and a lot more things, so I think your charge of "quite similar" doesn't hold water.

I've already explained why I don't paint my builds on my profile. I build combat aircraft because I find combat more interesting than ferrying people around; Mach 3 more interesting than Mach 0.8; a tight turn radius better than slow, flat, yaw-only turns, and so on. I've built single-engine, dual-engine, triple- and quad-engine aircraft (and spacecraft). So I can confidently say that my work has at least as much variation as anyone else on this website, probably more.

When you said you "know from experience," I took it to mean you'd seen other players lose momentum and leave.

    > there is most likely a large pool of players who would agree with that evaluation that was stated in my original comment.

I couldn't care less what people think. It's when people start saying things about me that are factually incorrect that I feel the need to step in.

Finally, a word about style. A strong, unique style is a very good thing. There are and have been innumerable highly skilled painters who can create admirable likenesses of landscapes, people, or still life; but the artists with unique styles like van Gogh or Gauguin are the ones who get remembered. Anyone who said "but the real world doesn't look like that" about one of the great masters' work would get laughed at -- that's not the point of art.

Replica builders, no matter how much time and effort they put into their builds, are fighting a losing battle -- their creations offer very limited opportunities to express themselves (custom paint schemes and decals, what else?) and can only be so good. People who create original designs, on the other hand, have many more possibilities to express their creativity, and therefore a much greater chance to create something memorable. And one good original design is worth a million replicas any day, to me at least.

  • SledDriver Will Beat SpiritusRaptor Soon... 7.7 years ago

"Same style without the slightest bit of deviation"... That is so obviously ridiculous it doesn't merit a response, but I'll respond anyway. I think you are confusing build techniques with style. I have a great variety of builds, certainly greater than most users, including you. @spefyjerbf

Thanks for the support though, @RailfanEthan . And @sexylips35 I do appreciate the compliment.

  • SledDriver Will Beat SpiritusRaptor Soon... 7.7 years ago

I wish people didn't start discussions like this one, the only thing they can result in is conflict and bitterness. If I cared about points, I could add paint schemes and decals and easily get twice the upvotes I normally do. See my post Dagger for an example. If I had done that on all my posts, my point total would have been much higher. So again: I'm not here to compete with anyone, especially not on points. I build to please myself, and upload so that others who like my builds can enjoy them. Being top dog on a game website is not among my ambitions.

  • ApeCorp Q5B - "Yuna" 7.7 years ago

@ahappyape Sure thing. One of the worst things on this website is how great builds are never seen again once they're a few days old. People put days and weeks of effort into builds, only for them to be lost in time.

  • New Website Feature 7.7 years ago

While this is great, I have another suggestion: related posts. When someone clicks on a post, there should be a sidebar with other builds (perhaps randomly chosen, perhaps ranked by upvotes, or some combination of factors) of the user who created the post. This way a user's older builds will have a chance to be seen again, instead of being lost in time.

But even more important than that, I'd rather see feature updates to SimplePlanes itself than the website. The one feature I'd like to see the most is multi-part selection and manipulation. Pretty much like Fine Tuner, except with the improvement that parts should be selectable by clicking and dragging, just like applying paint. Selecting a few dozen parts by clicking over and over again gets old really quickly.

Also, if you could integrate Overload's functionality into the Designer, that would be fantastic. My heart bleeds for iOS users whose only option for using modded parts is to ask other people to mod them.

  • Aerial Autocannon 7.7 years ago

@DJ123 I'd never do something like that manually. I just wrote a script to do it for me. So now I can generate a cannon with any number of bombs within seconds.

  • Lurker 7.7 years ago

@ThingThatFliez There's not much atmosphere beyond 100,000 feet, so above that altitude, anything's going to be hard to control. The air's too thin to be able to maneuver using control surfaces, or for wings to generate lift.

  • Peugeot 908 Hybrid4 * 7.7 years ago

Not bad, but in future, can you not tag me just because you uploaded something? Just imagine what would happen if everyone started tagging a bunch of people on all their uploads, the notifications would be full of noise. If your build is good, it will be noticed and upvoted, don't worry.

  • Silverfish III 7.7 years ago

@Mattangi As a matter of fact, I've slowed down a bit these days. Anyway, my secret is that instead of putting parts together one-by-one by hand, I've figured out a way to generate smooth shapes out of multiple fuselage blocks in one go. So for this build, for instance, the central section was rendered in one go, and the engine nacelle in one go. Then I use the SP designer to put them together to get the final shape, and add flight capability.

Because they perform at extremes and form follows function, they have the same beauty as a predator in peak condition. Just as a gray wolf is more beautiful than a cow, and an eagle than a dove.
