The provision of a twin-engine aircraft that can operate on this simple runway is unique. This Attack class ship is not a large ship so it cannot go to sea in the middle of the ocean, limited to coastal areas and ports. The proposal was approved, apart from the ships, Australia handed over in the first stage four Nomad N22 Search Master B units (registered P-801 to 804) and the TNI-AL formed Squadron 800 in July 1976. The following year the TNI-AL received eight aircraft the same plus six Nomad units of the Search Master L type. The difference between Search Master B and L is the radar scope, B is only 180o while L can cover 360o, apart from that the L version's detection capability is twice as good as B. The 1993-1995 period, The TNI-AL's Nomad fleet has increased further with the presence of the N24, which has a larger carrying capacity and longer body, used by the Australian Army and the N22B, all of which are transport versions. Especially for the transport version, the TNI-AL included it in the 600 Squadron (Tactical Transport).
The TNI-AL has a total of 42 Nomad N22/N24 units and is the largest Nomad operator in the world. Loved in Indonesia but hated in Australia, the country of manufacture.
