@Hiimakeplanes in my opinion, the reason why you’re lacking upvotes is because you post too frequently. You may have a lot of free time, and you’re joining a war challenge, but the thing is that you’re posting 1-2 uploads per day. Very few people want to keep upvoting your stuff on a daily basis, and eventually they just don’t bother to upvote. So that’s why you don’t get many upvotes per build.
Besides, once you post a new build, very few people are going to look at your previous build, because people only like the newest things. And with you posting a new craft 12 hours after the previous one, most of your upvotes will happen within that 12-hour frame. This is why I personally try to space out my post dates, keeping them at least 1 week apart, or at the very minimum, 2 days apart, so that I can “squeeze” the greatest possible number of upvotes out of them.
I don’t expect you to quit the war challenge, but I’m just telling you that this is why your builds don’t have many upvotes, and it’s up to you to decide what to do with this advice.
@Yourlocalhuman, the same thing applies to you.
Great design, but word of advice: the thumbnail photo should show the front of the plane, not the back; I was having trouble trying to figure out the shape of the plane from the thumbnail photo.
Cockpit looks workable, but other than that, yeah it doesn't look good. This is because the proportion of width to length is incorrect, and the primary wings are too small.
Here's one thing you can do: use the blueprint tool.
It can be found by expanding the "eye" icon and looking at the top left. When you open the blueprint tool, you can upload side and top-view blueprints of the aircraft that you're making. And these blueprints can be found on the internet, so it'll be easy.
Using the blueprint tool really helps you get the length and wingspan of the plane right, and as a result it doesn't look ugly.
Oh, and by using the blueprint tool, you can upload your own custom screenshots, and you won't need to post with views of the ugly designer anymore. It'll help you get a lot more upvotes.
Hope I helped you, and if you have any (non-FT related) questions, just ask me.
@LonelyAustrianUhlan the fatigue was indeed highest at the windows (and doors), but my point is that it wasn’t the shape that was the problem.
From this article:
”Many readers familiar with the Comet disasters might be wondering why, with this article drawing to its close, I have yet to utter the phrase “square windows.” But the truth is that “square windows” never had anything to do with the Comet crashes. The windows were not and never were square — in fact, you can see for yourself in the above image, which shows a Comet 1 window next to a modern Boeing 737 window. Can you tell which is which? You probably can, but not because one is any more “square” than the other.
The cause of the Comet’s difficulties was not the shape of its windows, but de Havilland’s failure to predict the complex load pathways and stress concentrations in the material. And in terms of fundamental design deficiencies, the most significant fact was that the fuselage skin was simply too thin, leaving it unable to withstand the local stresses generated around its perfectly normal-shaped windows. The lessons of the twin disasters were therefore much more profound than the oft-repeated concluding line, “and no one ever built a jet with square windows again.” In reality, no one was ever that stupid! But the Comet crashes did fundamentally alter the process of designing airliners, bringing about a more thorough and regimented approach to the problem of metal fatigue. And the inquiry was a milestone of its own, establishing many of the techniques which form the basis of modern investigative practice, from mathematical modeling to underwater recovery. The story of the Comet, then, is a tale of firsts, both the positive kind, and the dangerous kind — the perils of pushing into the unknown. The solution to the Comet mystery was not reckoned in money or manpower, but neither was its creation. The only thing that would have saved the Comet was knowledge, but in the history of human innovation, seldom have we learned what we must do without first learning what we must not.”
@Ajplebo some tips for making better thumbnails:
- Increase width of the photo to make it fit into the screenshot box (this can be done by cropping the top).
- Take the photo at 8.00 or 16.00 SP time; it can achieve the best colours. You can manually set the time in the game using the “Settings” icon in the pause menu.
- If your phone has a photo-editing function, I recommend you use it. It really helps a lot.
- Finally, use fonts that look “modern”, so that the text fits with this modern-looking helicopter. Some examples are Arial (bold), Roboto and Helvetica (I personally use DIN Alternate).
Other than that, amazing helicopter. Hope these tips help to make more people notice your creations!
Don't just delete your account, what if you change your mood halfway and decide to come back? Or what if someone wants to download your plane? If you want to leave, just leave, you don't need to delete your account.
Yeah I got the same issues too; it's probably a technical fault
+1@Yourlocalhuman you get at most 10 upvotes per build, which for a platinum user like you, isn’t much.
+1Are we allowed to upload more than one build? @MrCOPTY
+1Well that's great, hope to see your builds soon! :)

+1looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong
+1I’m gonna be honest… the thumbnails are misleading, which isn’t allowed.
+1Also, are those upvotes done by alts???
@SimpleStudent I don’t know, and those who do know are obligated to not share it.
+1Oh, and JP11 just got banned too.
@100 That's fast
+1All tags were requested from my teaser.
+1From the models, this plane looks like an A330 with the capacity of a 777
+1Soon we gonna have monsters fighting each other in this war challenge
+1@CL125 and just when I finished making a submission for his challenge…
+1Also did you get a strike or something? I get redirected to the homepage when I click on your profile.
+1Word of advice, it'd be better if you made the plane before you post a teaser
+1@teddyone02 i fixed it

+1Looking at this, I realise how far SP has come since it first started
+1Hi there, welcome to SP! I'm from Singapore too. And I'm going on a trip to Da Nang, Vietnam in 3 weeks so see you there I guess!

+1I will never understand how people have the computer capacity to run this, let alone build it
+1To be fair, the forums were kinda made for teasers...
+1Looks a lot like an Electra (L-188)
+1And no more 69 in your point count, we need to keep you clean!
+1The fuselage colours remind me of a certain flag…

If you wait for the waiter, does that make you the waiter?
