@ZeroWithSlashedO Definitely a good thing to have. Keeping it simple. I really like the way you paid attention to detail in the right spots here, like all-moving stabilators and the fully opened AB-nozzles at 100% thrust. Cool stuff!
@nmfy Thanks for not taking my comment the wrong way. I think you did a great job. Myself, I’m still miles away from achieving such a clean build! It’s just that there are so many other cool F-4s on here, too… ;-)
@MrAdhmGamer Wow, then you really haven’t seen much. Not to say that this is a bad build or anything. But it’s hardly an accurate replica either - as stated by the author, it’s a „remake“. There are lots of other builds that are „better F-4s“ (meaning replicas) on here that are less hard on your potato. ;-)
@TheNightmareCompany Got it. But that was basically my question: is there any real aircraft in existence that could fulfill the criteria of this contest?
@Protoflight Thanks a lot! I’m beginning to understand the issue. Keep up the good work. The model is spot on otherwise. I used to have an EC-135 fly overhead on takeoff and final approach at least four times a day when I lived right next to hospital. 😉
Great build! But either I’m missing something or my download is broken: As soon as I start to hover, I go into a full-on tailspin. What am I doing wrong? Please help. Not a helo expert, but I do believe I get the basic principle.
@Kavazano Huh. Not sure if decrying a supposed lack of upvotes is a good way of attracting more upvotes. That said, here’s a couple of suggestions mixed with some (hopefully) constructive criticism:
The design and execution are, in my humble opinion, good (aside from the magical missiles creeping out the sides by accident, that’s just confusing). It seems pretty realistic, as far as fictional builds go. However, I think the build lacks that extra ‚something‘ to make it stand out. It really just looks a lot like the Bell 360 Invictus. Try adding a cannon or some other cool armament or functionality.
The Name and symbology feel strange and bar any explanation or back story. What is ‚Wanton‘ supposed to mean here? Why Baphomet/Bafoumeh? What’s with all the pentagram stuff?
The flying characteristics are … well, to be honest: the thing flies like a school bus with a broken steering column. Needs fixing. It looks very agile and it’d be cool to get the same feeling from flying it. This should make you want to blast through the canyon and wipe out the convoy in a single run.
Are there any hidden functions in the AGs that I’m missing out on here? EDIT: I just noticed how friggin huge this thing is: It’s like 100 ft long and 50,000 lbs. That might explain its sluggish flying.
Hope this doesn’t come off to rough. I am, by no means, a pro at this and my only public build is haphazard at best. But I do know and love my favorite SP attack helicopters. It would be great if this could be improved upon.
@SimplyPlain Oh great! Sorry, that re-up kinda slipped by me for some reason. Thanks! So, congratulations: for now, you seem to have made the ‚definitive‘ Me-262 on the site! I just love this jet .. it was my first scale model kit that I built with my dad back when I was 7 years old or so.
@SimplyPlain Dude, what black magic did you employ on the cannons?! They work perfectly now. Just cut through that tanker plane like a knife through butter! Is there anything you changed in the XMLs? I tried your full-detail 262 with some of my cannons and some worked fine while others had the exact same issue as your MK108s. Please enlighten me ;-)
@SimplyPlain True that. Thanks for looking into it. I think I haven’t encountered this issue yet. I may try and put one of my semi-customized 30mm cannons that I have tested in A2A combat in there just to see what happens. Then maybe compare the XMLs of the two. I’ll let you know if I find anything.
Definitely the single most beautiful Me-262 on here. Incredible detail. Love how you actually made the MK108s look the part. However, I seem to have trouble hitting anything with them: I’ve tried shooting down the default tanker (which shouldn’t be too hard) and scored what I believed to be a at least a dozen direct hits from a very close 6 o‘clock position. That didn’t seem to bother the tanker at all. I’ve noticed you’ve set the cannons‘ impact damage to 0.1 but even increasing it to 1.0 didn’t do anything. Works fine on ground targets, though! Anyone else experience the same? Any way, just thought I’d check back with you, @SimplyPlain
@Oofsalot Of course it can. Set nozzles to 90 degrees down, throttle up to 100% and off you go! It’s just that controlling it during takeoff has gotten a lot more difficult … which is more realistic … just like the new model.
@Agrelle after flying it for a bit, I can only reiterate: This will be THE definitive Viking on the site for a LONG time! 😉 Also fun: I’ve exchanged the external droptanks for some hard-hitting ordnance and kinda re-enacted part of the S-3‘s role in Desert Storm I, when they just used it as a frontline bomber at times. By the way: Would you be ok with me trying my hand at converting your model into the ES-3A Sea Shadow or a tanker variant? You’d be highly credited, of course!
Can't express how happy I am that someone finally did this awesome plane justice! I've tried myself and failed miserably (then due to lack of experience, now lack of time) and I had always hoped for this to happen. Thank you!!
@Amazingaviator12 Thanks a bunch! It’s very cool to see you guys enjoying this build. I took a lot of inspiration from my understanding of military aviation and tried to make it as believable as possible … well, aside from the completely over-powered laser. 😉
@SpaceXplorer Well, that’s actually easier than ever since the new cockpit parts were introduced in the 1.11 beta. I just picked a cockpit frame, canopy, a seat and some instruments, controls and stuff from the ‚cockpit interior‘ tab and slapped em together. The HUD is my own (very rudimentary) design.
Cool job! Just a little historical background: the manufacturer was called ‚Focke Wulf‘ and parts of that company were later absorbed into EADS/Airbus.
‚Fokker‘ is another aircraft manufacturer, originally from Germany, now based in the Netherlands that‘s (sort of but not really) still in business today.
Hold on now! Your dad’s 150 does a 190kts at sea level?! That is one quick little Cessna! ;-) Just kidding! Very fun to fly and beautifully built indeed.
Great! I always wondered about which code to use fro make the rotator work upon firing the cannon. Now I know. Thanks! Btw: you can simply use two cannons and thus double the ROF! 🙃
@Falkenwut Hey, thanks so much for your suggestions, there are some really helpful things in there. I should mention that this is, obviously, relatively old and I have made some progress since. I have managed to find ways building a working flap design (although I’m still
waaayyy too lazy for building ‚proper‘ custom wings. I simply don’t have a lot of spare time, but whenever I do, I keep tinkering on different designs. I guess I should be uploading some of them to provide a little update on my (small) progress. Anyway thanks again, I appreciate it!
Love your builds as well, especially the modular jet, obviously. Got my own iteration of that in the works as well! Cheers
@Pnicks15 Well, they didn’t. Boeing made 3 prototypes and tried to sell it to the USAAF and Navy, but they didn’t end up acquiring it, even though it had quite impressive capabilities.
Hey there! This is definitely the most beautiful A-4 build on the site yet. I’m with @TheVexedVortex on this one: please flesh it out at some point and make it THE definitive SimplePlanes A-4!
There is only one gripe I have with this: the flight model. While the roll rate is spot on, pitching and turning is a drag. It feels like flying a school bus loaded with cement! ;-) Am I doing it wrong? For take-off, I followed your instructions (“Use 100% trim nose up + half flaps”), once I’m in the air at a decent airspeed, I neutralize trim and try to maneuver, which I find to be really hard, even when I use trim nose down for level flight. Any suggestions? Thanks!!
@Heganix So…what is the question? You stated that you „perfect the designs“ of other people’s creations … well, I don’t really see any significant changes to the original. In fact, it is pretty much exactly the same. So it’s even more important then to tag the original creator and/or ask for their permission. It’s a simple rule.
Hey, try to make the flaps work by removing the actual wing parts from them and using hidden flaps in front of the CoL instead. The way the flaps are now, they work „backwards“, meaning: they reduce lift when they‘re down, when in reality, they increase lift. It’s an unfortunate flaw in the SP flight model.
@ZeroWithSlashedO Definitely a good thing to have. Keeping it simple. I really like the way you paid attention to detail in the right spots here, like all-moving stabilators and the fully opened AB-nozzles at 100% thrust. Cool stuff!
@ZeroWithSlashedO Cool. Sorry, didn’t mean to sound so rude before, btw. Nice job, def gets a MiG-29s job done! ;-)
+1Dude, the title literally says 50 PARTS OR LESS in all-caps! @ZeroWithSlashedO
@nmfy Thanks for not taking my comment the wrong way. I think you did a great job. Myself, I’m still miles away from achieving such a clean build! It’s just that there are so many other cool F-4s on here, too… ;-)

+2@TheNightmareCompany Got it. But that was basically my question: is there any real aircraft in existence that could fulfill the criteria of this contest?
+2Damn, that’s a cool challenge! I’ll der give it a go.
+2A replica of what exactly? Is there something like this IRL? Seriously curious here, because that would be awesome! @TheNightmareCompany
+2@Upv0te Wow, if this isn’t a ringing endorsement, I don’t know what is! Thanks for sharing.
Bomb bay in front of engine intakes? Daring … and quite sexy!
It even has somewhat of a sad/bored face in sideview! Adorable. Another fine frame industries product. Deserves attention!
+1@Protoflight Thanks a lot! I’m beginning to understand the issue. Keep up the good work. The model is spot on otherwise. I used to have an EC-135 fly overhead on takeoff and final approach at least four times a day when I lived right next to hospital. 😉

+2The hell is wrong with you???@FairFireFlight
You realize that you actually built a MiG-29 and that a real-life Su-34 is an entirely different animal?
+2@Oofsalot Of course it can. Set nozzles to 90 degrees down, throttle up to 100% and off you go! It’s just that controlling it during takeoff has gotten a lot more difficult … which is more realistic … just like the new model.
+1@Chillybaconface you’re making it sound like the old Vertigo wasn’t at least loosely based on the Harrier
+1Just discovered this - getting pretty excited for it! We're in desperate need of a good F-14 that's up to 1.11 standards.
+1@Rakoval500k Good Point! Missed that one. Fixed now.
@CC1010 Video proof! ;-P
@MRpingouin Thanks, man! Although I’d probably say: what this deserves more of is work 😉 But really glad you like it already!
+2@Amazingaviator12 Thanks a bunch! It’s very cool to see you guys enjoying this build. I took a lot of inspiration from my understanding of military aviation and tried to make it as believable as possible … well, aside from the completely over-powered laser. 😉
@MarbleXLazuli @Amazingaviator12 @Falkenwut Thanks so much for spotlighting this, you guys!! Also thanks for all the upvotes so far!

+1Absolutely gorgeous!
+1This looks very promising. You definitely got the shape and dimensions down pretty much perfectly! Keep it up!
+4Great! I always wondered about which code to use fro make the rotator work upon firing the cannon. Now I know. Thanks! Btw: you can simply use two cannons and thus double the ROF! 🙃

+1What is this - a 15G fighter??
@Pnicks15 Well, they didn’t. Boeing made 3 prototypes and tried to sell it to the USAAF and Navy, but they didn’t end up acquiring it, even though it had quite impressive capabilities.
+2I like it! Good honest bomber with great handling and nice details.
+1@2Papi2Chulo Thanks for replying! I’ll try my hand at faster airspeeds. 😉

Dude, this is @AWESOMENESS360 s build. Give credit or bust! Or how about asking nicely, if you can use it? Jeez.
+1Jundroo should make you their head of marketing. It’s perfect!
+7Now that’s innovative and believable at the same time. Love it! I’d also love for someone to make that turret track targets autonomously.

Probably manufactured by SpaceX
