@Hyattorama No, thank you! These Schneider Cup racers are some of my favorite planes, and this is the best Castoldi I've ever seen. I'm actually a bit upset more people haven't upvoted this thing.
@EternalDarkness No, not suggesting he broke any rules. Pathetic grabs for attention at the cost of morale have repeatedly proven to be within the limits.
I just thought it would be a real shame if
everyone decided to use the ignore feature
on someone for the simple mistake of making such transparently awful post.
@EternalDarkness Could we maybe just take this one down? Somebody's gonna get all "ad hominem" and it's not like there's a worthwhile discussuon emerging here.
@Jim1the1Squid Hahaha. Not saying. Lets just say the pay sucks and the work is amazingly filthy. Stay in school, boring stuff like math and chemistry pays big money and no matter where you live poor people get treated like s&%t.
@atgxtg Absolutely! Not to mention it's the most direct way to improve almost every aspect of performance. When Ed Heinemann was designing the AD-1 Skyraider he discovered that:
"every 100 lb (45 kg) of weight reduction the take-off run was decreased by 8 feet (2.4 m), the combat radius increased by 22 miles (35 km) and the rate-of-climb increased by 18 feet/min (0.091 m/s)."
His team managed to cut almost two tons of "unnecessary equipment." That was probably the best designed ground attack platform ever built.
@Jim1the1Squid VTOL and Trim is only good for large, slow turrets. Anything that needs to actually track and hit moving targets needs to use pitch and roll.
Yes. Make the controls pitch and roll. Then it's the same as a FPS shooter. Put all the control surfaces on AG8 and maybe throw a gyro on AG7, then the plane will fly straight and steady while you aim.
One amazing bird. After all the ranting descriptions and amazing photos and videos, when you see it in real life you still feel unprepared. It's just so alien, so strange and mysterious looking.
It's not a glitch. Exceeding the sound barrier at low altitude is unpleasant and dangerous. You will notice that your planes don't wobble when you go "fast" at altitudes above 20k feet.
Anyway, structural wings are the solution here. Either with rotator controlled surfaces or XML modded surfaces.
If you ever return to Washington, be sure to check out the Udvar Hazy branch of the Smithsonian Air and Space museum. It's a short drive from Dulles airport and it is without a doubt the second best aircraft museum in the USA (second only to the USAF Museum in Ohio). They've got everything from experimental Third Reich planes like the Horten, the Enola Gay, even a Space Shuttle.
GO HERE scroll through the videos till you spot something interesting. Watch the video then build the thing.
+1@Hyattorama Absolutely. And the presentation is great. Keep up the good work!
+1They should use these to promote the game.
+3@Hyattorama No, thank you! These Schneider Cup racers are some of my favorite planes, and this is the best Castoldi I've ever seen. I'm actually a bit upset more people haven't upvoted this thing.

@PlanesOfOld Just some ideas
This is beautiful
I love this.
Nice job. Reminiscent of a West German design from the 60's.
Have you considered other Great War aircraft like artillery balloons, zeppelins and gliders?
@EternalDarkness Could we maybe just take this one down? Somebody's gonna get all "ad hominem" and it's not like there's a worthwhile discussuon emerging here.
AMAZING
+1Probably should've had C-Z's build as the auto-credit.
@BaconEggs They all look GREAT! I just thought they looked a but familiar.
DeLacey is from Star Citizen, "Other Stuffs" is from Elite.
@Chancey21 Stay that way.
No, you didn't.
Posts like this are pointless.
+4@goboygo1 He can't. He's got IOS.
@AircraftoftheRedStar Tasty pick! They have a real late-40's sci-fi look.
@RailfanEthan Si, pero otro aviones son muy bueno.
@InternationalAircraftCompany
DIVIDE BY ZERO!
GAME OVER MAN! GAME EFFIN OVER!
+1Whatcha gonna make?
Why not just link to the guy's website? He's got a whole mess of altered classics that look pretty neat. CLICKY CLICKY

Does he not include tactical defense systems on his ships? I would throw modded anti-air missiles on it at least.
@Jim1the1Squid LOL Stay in school. The world hates factory workers.
@Jim1the1Squid Just take my Dauntless for a spin and see how you like her.
@whereby Happy to hear it! Good luck and welcome to the party.

+3@Jim1the1Squid Are you using WASD? If so, then that is your problem. Try right-clicking for mouse-aim.
On a mobile device, they use virtual thumbsticks. This means that using pitch/roll is exactly like aiming in a console FPS.
@Jim1the1Squid VTOL and Trim is only good for large, slow turrets. Anything that needs to actually track and hit moving targets needs to use pitch and roll.
Try this

+3I believe there will be one in
SIMPLE ROCKETS 2
@randomusername And thus, you begin to see the drawbacks of equipment designed to inexpensively kill, not safely or comfortably transport humans.
+1@ViciousTNT Why have cockpit windows at all?
+1@ACEPILOT109 Those Century jets looked more like rocket ships than planes. Handled like it too, I guess.
Spend a while looking at stuff that has gotten a lot of upvotes lately. See what they're doing right.

@ACEPILOT109
Pretty sweet plane!
Nah
@Minecraftpoweer
+1The wings on this should work.
+1How will you taxi, takeoff or land if you have no forward visibility?

@Jetspeed1001 is right. The building workshop will be just like SP, but with better tools.
Are you sure that's a Mini? Judging by the fire coming out from the engine compartment and the parts strewn about, I'd say it looks like a Fiat.
+5@QingyuZhou Agreed.
You continue to make impressive replicas. This thing would probably have 70 upvotes if not for the successor tag.
Flashbacks from War Thunder Arcade, incoming!
+1You know, I think you might be better at cars than planes. This really is among the most detailed stuff I've ever seen on here.
