Upgraded Imperial Eagle in the works, using different flight controls, as well as those creepy spider leg landing gear Gutamaya likes to use on their ships.
@ProjectVideoGame, you're right on that. If I ever go back to this project it's something I'll add. I've been working on performance issues with larger builds, SP always seems to crash when working on this thing.
@VolcanicAsh the turret design concept came from a T-57 American medium tank, but building it, I was getting Merkava vibes too, especially since it plays a similar role.
Definitely, its basically just a bunch of flattened wheels attached to independent springs. Still waiting for Junroo to add tracks, going on year 5 pretty soon.
@Falco7 Thanks it's always good to see other ED players in the community, now I may have to build the Anaconda, it just wouldn't seem right not to at this point.
@idk201011323 When I first tested it on the convoy, I accidently ran them over with the thing, went though some windmills in the process, and flew away. Yeah, it's a hefty bird.
So I found out for some reason the landing gear causes it to roll. Not sure why, but if it's a nuisance just remove the landing gear, the original design can actually land just fine without it. I may make a version that uses a different gear set, but at this point I'm working on other projects. This is more of a test bed for a flapless design.
@idk201011323 Thanks for the heads up. I'm probably going to release an updated version that uses trim to counter the roll. It worked pretty well, just annoying because after going over 500 parts, the only solution I have for it is weird SP Physics. I might as add the cockpit I wanted and tune the RCN.
@idk201011323 yeah I noticed, I use mouse and keyboard, so it's not as bad, but I think it's because it uses too many independent panels, with different drag values, or maybe the center of mass sits above the wings. I may patch it in the future. I'll be honest I didn't expect people to notice this thing.
@LITVYAK013INDUSTRIES you might be talking about the wrong plane, that or you're an incredible pilot since this thing doesn't have much air to ground capabilities, or floats. That isn't a bad idea though, and to make things float, all you need to do is just adjust the buoyancy setting on the part that touches the water.
I think in life there's "roads" that are clearly bad choices, but not everyone can walk the same path, unfortunately life doesn't give us the same opportunities. We got to take the path that is best for us, and for the people around us. Life is tough, it's definitely not fair. There is no right or wrong answers, just the consequences of outcomes. Being open minded to see where that path goes is part of the challenge. At the end of it all, you need to ask yourself if the path you walked is worth the outcome, and if it was then you probably made the right choice. I know this is open to some witty response, but hey, it comes with the territory.
@Hellfire3627 yeah it is a bit touchy at straight and level roll, I'm probably going to have to make it's control surfaces smaller. Just so I have an idea, are you flying it with mobile controls?
@Natsu0100 Definitely, your more than welcome to use any of my designs, and the parts I put into them. Also if you need help just let me know. VTOL is hard but once you get the hang of normal planes become boring. And thanks for the heads up on the issues on the Eagle.
@EliCandyYT69 Definitely, I hope one of the developers will see this. I know it can be tricky business though when it comes to dealing with community requests.
@BaconEggs Thanks for the Upvote. Sounds good, I built it to be used on a mobile phone since I'm never home anymore. It was "supposed" to be a 400 part build. So the XML file is tuned to be a little more forgiving on hardware. You're free to use this model if you want. I built it off blueprints and scaled the thing based on the pilot for reference. There are a lot of details that can be added, which sadly my hardware won't allow.
@AtlasSP it's always good to see SimplePlanes premier video creator. I've seen your channel grown a lot, and thanks. The real challenge was getting this thing to work on my phone. I've got more ships lined up, just in school right now so it's not as easy to build these things. Thanks for the Spotlight too.
@Shippy456 yup, get yourself a Super cruise assist an Auto Docker, you'll have yourself an Anaconda in two weeks. My Dolphin is my most profitable ship that I never actually fly.
@UltraLight The track could possibly be just an animated surface or something going from one wheel node to the next. I know that's what WoT blitz does. Maybe make the details paint able.
Well... It's a Rite of Passage in the Simple Planes community to build a ADF-01, X-02, or CFA-44, but since it's a bit overdone, I'd recommend building something out of science fiction, like a hover tank or starfighter. Then you can play around with the XML, change engine color, and do things you would do to a traditional fighter jet. Not to sell my own builds, but here's a large cockpit module that I put out. It'll save you a little headache, and who knows, maybe you'll come up with something from it.
Also, your right @MrSilverWolf, I think the first thing most creators do when they build something is strap as many weapons to it as possible, sadly it's what I do myself. It's like Mad Max here sometimes.
@MrShenanigans I build a lot of modular parts, mainly because I'm a lazy American. As I go along, I'm going to start releasing the easy to install ones as free use parts for builders.
@MrShenanigans Of course, use it as needed, no credit is necessary. If anything it's so the next group of builders keep this community going with even more epic builds.
@Shippy456 You should be able to go to the crew lounge at a station and hire them. Just a heads up, NPC crew mates are next to useless unless they are manning a turret of using a ship launched fighter.
@Shippy456 Try looking into Cobra, I think it's about 200k but it's good for bounty hunting, exploration, and light cargo runs. You'll grow out of it fast, but it's a good starter.
@Shippy456 I usually have one ship that I use as a taxi with a fuel scoop and I just ship my stuff station to station. I sounds expensive, but it's not too bad once you get established.
@Shippy456 Honestly that game punishes you for carrying anything in your cargo hold. I'll actually carry stuff just to bait pirates in. But yeah, Autodock, supercruise assist, and a Dolphin, easy money.
@CedC I agree with that, and it's good someone in the community made a mod for that, but it would be nice to have some flexibility in the chassis we could build.
@Shippy456 Because Frontier Games hates it's community. Just kidding, the Sidewinder isn't bad, but when you upgrade to an Eagle or an Adder, then it gets fun. If you can, get a Dolphin, it sounds dumb but transport mission pay a lot of money.
@Tabris, Thanks for the upvote. I saw your screenshot on Discord. Sorry I never got back to you, working out the bugs on this thing. Looking forward to that project you're working on.
Upgraded Imperial Eagle in the works, using different flight controls, as well as those creepy spider leg landing gear Gutamaya likes to use on their ships.
@jamesPLANESii it most likely will not win, but it will look cool
@ProjectVideoGame, you're right on that. If I ever go back to this project it's something I'll add. I've been working on performance issues with larger builds, SP always seems to crash when working on this thing.

@Falco7 It'd be a lot easier, the Krait was annoying to build due to all the crazy angles. A Python should be a little more straight forward.
@Astro12 just being respectful to another builders work
Cool design, is it okay if I make a variant?
@Falco7 Thanks it's always good to see other ED players in the community, now I may have to build the Anaconda, it just wouldn't seem right not to at this point.
@idk201011323 When I first tested it on the convoy, I accidently ran them over with the thing, went though some windmills in the process, and flew away. Yeah, it's a hefty bird.
@Inferno543 I was thinking of adding a small fighter like a Taipan at some point but it's just too many parts for my computer to run.
So I found out for some reason the landing gear causes it to roll. Not sure why, but if it's a nuisance just remove the landing gear, the original design can actually land just fine without it. @Zanedavid I like to stay around 400 parts for my mobile builds. This one added up real fast. Yeah, I think I need a hardware upgrade.
@Zanedavid Thanks, luckily I have a computer with the power of a potato hooked up to a 9 volt battery, so it helps.
Not too bad, did you use a Gyro for the VTOL setting?
@Dysprosium yes, you are the fastest upvote in the west, I didn't even know I posted it
Oh shoot, this wasn't supposed to be up till next week... okay... well it's up now.
@bjac0 happy to know I'm not the only one. We might as well start converting over ships before the game goes under trying to be an FPS.
@EliCandyYT69 Definitely, I hope one of the developers will see this. I know it can be tricky business though when it comes to dealing with community requests.
@bjac0 Thanks for the Spotlight and upvote

@shipster it's fine, I'm just trying see what the overall opinion on tank track is.
@UltraLight The track could possibly be just an animated surface or something going from one wheel node to the next. I know that's what WoT blitz does. Maybe make the details paint able.
@shipster I think you may have posted to wrong thread.

So maybe if we can get enough upvotes, do you think they'll make it a featured build?

Funny @BRRRT, but you know how it is. Daddy Junroo wants all it's kids to play nice.
CMDR @spefyjerbf thanks for the upvote
@idk201011323 @spefyjerbf is kind of above my level when it comes to complexity, but I appreciate the compliment.

@asteroidbook345 Thank you very much, It's the one ship I've been trying to build since I started playing this game.
