  • SILK-165 Hanhi (Goose) Transport Seaplane 9.3 years ago

@TheColonel Do you play on mobile or PC? That's one issue I often run into. I -LOVE- detail but that doesn't mesh well with mobile user limitations. >.<

  • SILK-176 Haikala (Shark) Recon-Bomber Floatplane 9.3 years ago

@DeezDucks Come to think on it, I -think- my heavy bomber has six of 'em between three turrets - not counting the other turrets with standard guns. lol

  • Realistic AirLiner-T-900 9.3 years ago

Flight controls are excellent, though my poor laptop was really humming trying to keep up with something bigger than USS Tiny flying ... very well at that! XD I noticed she does a little "booty wiggle" after maneuvers but nothing to be terribly concerned with. Heck almost every one of my builds has some issue with it and a lil booty wiggle wouldn't make me lose sleep, not on something this epic and well designed. I didn't know you could add the description later. (I hate doing it in game because the font gets so small I can't read it, so that's useful to know.) I DL'd it when you still just had "Later" written so I had to figure out the controls the hard way. I figured AG1 was the landing gear but I made one fatal error. Landing gear up - so VTOL up. Plane goes boom. lol I figured out the rest on my second flight but didn't dare try landing her with that kinda lag. Still not everyday you get to have fun rolling an airliner and pulling off loops. XD (I felt a little sorry for the non-existent passengers. lol) GREAT BUILD and congrats on another masterpiece! As a side note, ironic that you chose these colors since the airliner (that this beast could probably swallow) I plan to put up tomorrow is also sky blue and silver. ^_^

  • Realistic AirLiner-T-900 9.3 years ago

This thing is EPIC!! It's longer than the ship's hull I saved a while back for whenever I dared venture into shipbuilding!! lol

  • SILK-176 Haikala (Shark) Recon-Bomber Floatplane 9.3 years ago

VTOL slider controls the turret too on CG2, BTW, don't worry you won't shoot off your' props or tailplane I've tested it pretty extensively. ^_~

  • SILK-176 Haikala (Shark) Recon-Bomber Floatplane 9.3 years ago

@DeezDucks I'm at my limit for today, you'll see more versions of this bird tomorrow and more. Oh, oops, forgot to credit you for the guns at that nifty 45 degree or so angle! I plucked it off of your' Bf-110E Trop. a while back. You'll be seeing a lot of it in my builds. XD

  • We need a space update 9.3 years ago

@KaiBounds I have yearned for rocket propulsion, beyond rocket pods rigged from one of the missiles, since about day 14 on this game. ^_~

  • IVLK-9f Haukka (Hawk) Intermediate Trainer 9.3 years ago

@JTM55 Go for it! I have a HUGE inventory of parts saved to my subassemblies that I use too. I can't mod stuff so I pilfer what looks nifty or useful and hoard it away. XD

  • The jungle tiger tank chassis 9.3 years ago

I stripped off her skin then simplified, narrowed and shortened this chassis for a light battle tank. I didn't even realize how neat the suspension system on this was until I removed it. :( However the resulting tank, reduced to twin turbojets is the most rugged thing I've built yet! I still haven't made the trek all the way to Bandit from Yeager (If that's even possible?) as the coaxial rocket launchers compel me to destroy the bridge from a new angle each time. lol

  • We need a space update 9.3 years ago

Naturally, our engines use a mix of fuel and oxygen to function. If the air is too thin of course your' engine should stall out if not flame out entirely. If we had rocket engines, sans warheads, with longer ranges and higher speeds that is, that'd be another story. Nevermind how high the speed necessary for complete escape velocity that is.

Don't misunderstand though, I'd LOVE if they expanded the game to include space so we could have true transorbital craft!

  • Up vote if you think this game needs pre-made fully functioning cockpits 9.3 years ago

That would kick butt I think. The darned things weigh a quarter ton what is that supposed to be, a seat, stick, fuel indicator, attitude indicator, speed indicator, trigger, throttle control and basically a primitive bead sight that gives you nothing for making deflection shots? Those instruments must be heavier than the ones I've seen! :D

Personally I think the cockpits they have now should become the "cockpit style" with a selector to indicate how wide/tall/front seat crew should be. Granted I'm just now getting the concept of this nudging thing and overlaying canopies but still it could save a lot of work that needs XML modding.

  • Fairey Swordfish Mk.II 9.3 years ago

A perfect build and probably the best torpedo of four I've tried out - the only one that can sink USS Tiny from my poor little patrol floatplane! ^_^ Saved that to subassemblies~

  • Carrier Catapult v1.0 9.3 years ago

I'm tempted to put this on a ship's hull. lol

  • Raptpr teaser! 9.3 years ago

  • Limit on Plane Uploads in a Day? 9.3 years ago

@Halfstrike Nah, I'd rather keep to one account. I found the limit more amusing than anything - but sensible as well on the part of SimplePlanes. Though I have been thinking about changing my username. Does one lose all of their points if they go that route though? @Skua As a mod, do you know the answer to this question?

  • PROBLEM WITH PARTS 9.3 years ago

@Skua Shift and then use wasd? Sweet!! Everyone I've talked to about it has failed to bring up that little tidbit. lol Thanks Skua and sorry for the bit about that darned ugly duckling warbird.

  • Limit on Plane Uploads in a Day? 9.3 years ago

@Halfstrike Aaah okay, makes sense. It just bites that it'll take me five or six days to upload everything I've been developing plus what I come up with in the meantime. I feel kinda bad since all I got to upload today were recolors w/stories attached, @TheOwlAce didn't seem to mind, but still ... None of my new stuff was able to be put up! D:

  • PROBLEM WITH PARTS 9.3 years ago

@AviownCorp I get what you are saying. Even with small smooth fuselage types that are 2 x wide you get that overhang. Lately if a fuselage structure, say a wing boom, is not at least 1.5 thick the tyre will stick up through the top of the fuselage. -_-

@Skua Saw someone did a decent Skua recently with folding wings. ^~ Jokes aside, with a bluetooth KB you can access the nudge command on PC or just on a mobile device with bluetooth? I tried the WASD function as nudge and it just turns parts at right angles. --

  • PROBLEM WITH PARTS 9.3 years ago

Great idea! Isn't there a similar problem with wing gear not fully folding on inverted gulled wings?

  • An Introduction to the "Enemy" - a Quasi Role-Play in Aircraft Design/Events in an Alternate Reality 9.3 years ago

    @Delphirier Nothin's worth doin' half way ... right? ;)

  • K-Flyfabrikk KF-8 Kungevakt (Royal Guard) 9.3 years ago

Gave me a hard time publishing this one. Designed by Kjeller-Flyfabrikk as an interceptor and was adopted as the KF-8KV - which stands for the above name. Credit due to it's creator @TheOwlAce recolor, a tweak or two by me, plus the story.

  • An Introduction to the "Enemy" - a Quasi Role-Play in Aircraft Design/Events in an Alternate Reality 9.3 years ago

@Delphirier Including several revisions, edits and addition of factual materials that could be dropped into this alternate reality - about a week off and on. lol

  • Ho-228-G-3 9.3 years ago

@TheOwlAce Oh, I thought your' Fw labeled aircraft were Focke-Wulf! Fokker-Wulf though, it fits! ^_^

  • Schedule stuff (+bad news) 9.3 years ago

Thanks for updating us on the situation @T0PD0GDEFENSIVECO and I hope that today's modern treatments will quickly eliminate the cancer and allow a complete recovery so that your' family can to return to some sense of normality. Cancer is common in my family on BOTH sides, thus far I've dodged the bullet, but three of my grandparents were not so lucky and my mother was suffering from a pre-cancerous condition when she passed from something completely unrelated.

Now for the hard part of this post. Idiot!! It's not slacking when you make your' family, your' one and only mother for that matter, a priority over and above a video game and its community! Spend as much time with her as you can, learn as much about her as you can, build a friendship atop of your' familial ties, tell her of your' hopes and dreams so in her very core she wants to be here enough for her body to fight this on a subconscious level and become a rock that she can count on - a precious gem. Hard as diamond and bright enough to be a light in this terrifying dark time in her life.

  • Airplane Damage 9.3 years ago

Actually I have had dogfights in which I've incurred battle damage! (If you use "bridge killer" modded guns though forget it, your' canopy will fly off at 700-2400 mph. lol)

The first time was literally the day after I made this suggestion when one of my twin-boom designs lost one of it's booms from the wing back. It happened so fast though I don't know if I flew into debris or was hit by a bullet! I have a couple of saved screenshots of that. Then the day before yesterday while testing one of my project aircraft I went head to head with what we named P-51 Mustang 3.0 that's a lil more realistic and armed. Despite her six guns she couldn't get a proper bead and as he went to veer off either I snagged him with the tag end of a gatling gun burst or he collided with my far right wingtip. He blew up though and I yawed hard towards the right but stabilized after.

These instances aside, I agree it would be nice but I'll be happy when the standard builder allows greater customization and wings don't have to look slab sided or "puffy" from fuselage block overlay. (Look back a ways in my history, I wrote a LONG list of suggestions - one of which was battle damage revision.)

  • who needs sleep when you have SimplePlanes? 9.3 years ago

@Delphirier Sorry, didn't read all the comments! ^_~ Great minds think alike?? lol

  • Small, but great update idea! 9.3 years ago

@ValtsuAircraftIndustries This line; "There should be staging/activation group option on control surfaces!" Got me to thinking about what if we could assign VTOL control to control surfaces? Hence my comment and upvote.

  • who needs sleep when you have SimplePlanes? 9.3 years ago

Been there and done that - it'll prepare you for long nights before work the next day anyway. Just don't make a habit of it or you'll make yourself sick.

  • Small, but great update idea! 9.3 years ago

That would be GREAT actually. Then we could make flaps effortlessly just by having a control surface on the wing used for pitch, link it to the VTOL slider, and voila instant flaps! :D

  • Bacon 3x6 v1.0 Engine 9.3 years ago

@BaconAircrafts Sweet! Thanks! :D BTW, I snagged those nifty tiny nose cones you used on a couple of your' builds, as a subassembly, to use as windows as you did - it's a nice touch!

  • Bacon 3x6 v1.0 Engine 9.3 years ago

Hmm .. I wonder what sorta monster I should build propelled by these? XD Is the Horsepower on these modded in any way?

  • LEARN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A GATLING AND A MINIGUN!!! 9.3 years ago

I prefer rotary assault cannon. Tom-ae-to Tom-ah-to, Pot-ae-to Pot-ah-to. Minigun originally implied a rifle caliber, infantry portable rotary multi-barrel rapid-fire weapon, hence "mini." The name has grown in popularity to classify any rotary multi-barrel rapid-fire weapon - previously simply called a Gatling Gun. My uncle was a sniper in Vietnam and a winner of the Silver Star. Afterwards he got into gunsmithing and built a rotary multi-barrel rapid-fire weapon. Although chambered for 7.62 mm he didn't call it a minigun - he called it a gatling gun.

Languages change and evolve with the passage of years and generations. Fifteen years ago "Ground Zero" was exclusively used to describe the epicenter of the point of a nuclear explosion. The attack and media coverage of 9/11 literally expanded this meaning to such an extent that all major English dictionary brands changed the definition in the years after.

Furthermore, it may well be a dialect matter. Pissed in proper English originally meant drunk - while in American English it has come to mean angry and/or enraged.

Language use is merely an inferior means to convey thoughts, emotions and actons. However, regardless of how many terms there are for one thing, so long as the message gets across the precise word use is irrelevant. Just my $0.02 worth...

  • Free Torpedoes - For Steam Update 9.3 years ago

@SimpleName11 Ah I see. Reminds me of a WW2 Escort Carrier - only harder to land on! lol I did set a starting point on USS Beast though a few days ago. :D

  • Free Torpedoes - For Steam Update 9.3 years ago

@SimpleName11 As for Torpedoes though, the floatplane I was going to use as the platform for them can't get off of the water with the added weight and shifted balance. I did manage to use them successfully with a much larger aircraft but that'll be posted soon enough. ;)

  • Free Torpedoes - For Steam Update 9.3 years ago

@SimpleName11 LOL NO ship is safe, I've been using them as target practice for my rockets, dive bombing, Infernos and have tested a bonifide drone numerous times on them. I loaded my Oowashii down with Infernos and sank both carriers and destroyers in one hop! XD I've been having more fun killing everything in the sky though, missiles, guns and even an odd-ball double suicide where I jettisoned two Boom-25s just as we were about to do a close head on pass and blew us both out of the air! XD

  • Operation - Destroy the Airport 9.3 years ago

@Pauciloquent I could probably do that. At the moment it would just be interesting to see what the AI birds will do to it if you plop it on the runway as is. They drop bombs and fire missiles at random it seems and I don't know how many I've seen pancake themselves on the runway! lol Yesterday after landing a new joint creation he asks me; Dad, if an AI controlled plane crashes - don't its parts disappear after a while? I said, "Well of course, or this runway would be littered with all kinds of bits!" He replied, "Well, then what's that over there?" I'll be darned if a bright pink propeller was not sitting dead center in the runway just beyond where I came to a halt. lol As for the mobile users I could probably bring the part count down considerably since it's built up layer by layer. If someone could tell me the limit that would help!

  • Tilt Rotor Test 9.3 years ago

How did the test go? As SimplePlanes' engine cannot seem to interpret what to do with something that doesn't really fly but is so ugly that it repels the very ground - i.e. helicopters - I've been considering a Tilt-Rotor design myself. I'm curious to hear how your' tests fared?

  • Ju-122-B-2 9.3 years ago

@TheOwlAce Wooo! What a rush! XD She's a real spitfire - er - well in the literal meaning of the term. ;) She's pretty fun to fly, real snappy rolls but takes a bit of distance to pull around by way of the canards. Beware of barrel rolls and wagging the tail to spread your' arc of gunfire though as this will induce that strange stall you mentioned, I believe it's called a "high speed stall," which can sometimes be recovered via use of the airbrakes - other times I couldn't do anything to recover. I love the new design though and hope you can figure out how to stabilize this lil beauty.

Oh yeah, don't try to fly against her when the AI controls her in dogfight mode. I decided to test her to see how she might fare against what she might meet in engaging "The Enemy," but literally 8 out of 10 tries the AI put her into a flat spin. One other time she exploded in midair but I was unable to reproduce this though I do hear something "knocking" while using the rudders and occasionally during other maneuvers. The only time I was able to engage it sincerely it only managed to train its guns on ... well ... the aircraft I pitted it against once, but missed and they zipped passed one another. As my aircraft flipped back around into a reverse immellman (sp?) this poor girl literally cartwheeled through its crosshairs and was blown to smithereens. :(

She should have NO trouble as a pure "energy fighter" though your' Horton is already superior in terms of speed plus she's stable in maneuvers. As a prop-plane though the 100-odd gallons of fuel should give her greater endurance than the Horton's twin jets feeding on its 300-odd gallons.)

  • Free Torpedoes - For Steam Update 9.3 years ago

lol! As soon as they released the update I went and grabbed one of these off of your' double wasp torpedo bomber for my subassemblies. Oh~ How satisfying it is to finally sink Tiny.... ;)

  • Night Raid! 9.3 years ago

    @TheOwlAce

    • His Excellency, the Imperial Russian Ambassador to Germania, brings news;

"I have received a call from the Imperial Capital of Russia. It seems the bomber aircraft of Raiderlin, as you refer to them, regretfully was similarly effected by the electrical storm. When the Czar contacted their embassy in regards to the issue of bombing civilian targets it was learned that the squadron had three separate objectives in Dresden. The first was Lahman Co., which produces anti-aircraft and field artillery, second was Koch & Sterzel, which produces critical electronics used in guided missiles and finally was the Dresden Armory, which according to them, is one of the three largest depostories of munitions in Germania proper. His Highness Kaarlo IV, Emperor of Se Suomi Imperiumi - or - begging your' pardon; Raiderlin, has put the Squadron to the sword for failing to abort their mission and costing the lives of potential future subjects. As his Highness put it, that is, no disrespect is intended. I've also been informed that your' attacks have cost more than ten times the loss of civilian lives lost in Dresden. His Highness further went on to ask that I mitigate the situation before this escalates into a "total war" of mutual destruction. Their previous war, which brought the United Kingdom of Sweden & Norway under their banner and left the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth crippled, militarily, somehow gained them a great deal of knowledge about your' Empire's technology in the process - including your' classified projects. As you know the Imperial Russian Empire has clashed with "Raiderlin" many times in the past and they have seldom been known to attack civilians unprovoked. They are an Empire of expansion, but there is no point in expanding to encompass a wasteland or to bring in subjects with great fear and hatred of them. If I may be so bold as to assert my opinion; I fear that they are hiding their true capabilities and may unleash a terrible vengeance for reacting so swiftly and disproproportionately to the actions of a single squadron on a stormy night. I strongly advise that you reconsider the situation before it is too late."

  • Ar. 422-B-2 Manta Ray 9.3 years ago

@TheOwlAce I don't have enough USB ports to use a joystick on this machine, sadly, but its a great looking design! You'll soon be seeing a mess of submitted aircraft with you tagged, by the way. ;)

  • Operation - Destroy the Airport 9.3 years ago

@RailfanEthan Is it too large or ... ?

  • Rayzorz-Edyg 9.3 years ago

@Feschterohjo I'm going to try for a larger scale version using a variation on this fuselage type with a customized canopy as a "stealth" aircraft. The tilted wheels didn't work so well on this scale given that they stick up through the top of the fuselage when retracted. They aren't tilted to the right angle on this scale anyway. I'l probably use stock landing gear, pull the engines in more a bit to cover more of the exhaust as that engine sends out far more of a plume than those little protrusions can cover. I also want to get some elevators above and below the exhaust. Flies alright but wobbles something fierce on the horizontal axis. I also didn't move the control surfaces out to their extreme points where they would be most effective. Furthermore, after the fact, I realized I goofed up on the nose as it should have more of a sword point look to it. lol Ah well, just wanted to show what I goofed off with this morning.

  • Ducted Fan-Jet Mod Request 9.3 years ago

@TheOwlAce Oh okay, I'll get to thinking on it then. :D

  • Ducted Fan-Jet Mod Request 9.3 years ago

@TheOwlAce Are you skilled in modding? I'd love to try out this concept but I need an XML Modder who would be willing to help me with this experiment. BTW, you never mentioned earlier what engine types you use, if they are stock models or if they are modded and to what degree? I was thinking about undertaking the role of making up Raiderlin aircraft as counterparts to your' Imperial Germanian designs, but I don't want to overpower the Germanian types as I assume their tech level is similar.

  • Ducted Fan-Jet Mod Request 9.3 years ago

@Skua Ah, drat. That's where a light contra-rotating prop plane @TheOwlAce built capped out at too. Still might be interesting to try out I think it might be more reactive to changes in thrust and potentially weigh less for the same performance as alternatives..?

  • Ducted Fan-Jet Mod Request 9.3 years ago

@Skua Indeed, that's what I was referencing. What speed is indicated as Mach 1 in SimplePlanes, in reality it varies by altitude.

  • Ducted Fan-Jet Mod Request 9.3 years ago

@Shmexysmpilot Oh yes, I know about existing modded parts. Why, this morning I had a x1000 turbine, the highest power type I forget what it's called, attached to the "Pigpen" jet that came with the game. She came apart at about 3500 mph with her wings flapping like a hummingbird. Then I progressed to one of my builds, built with a structural wing modded to have control surfaces put two of 'em on it and wound up at 500k feet then finally broke apart as I went to level out at about 40k feet on the way back down. I think I was moving at 4500 mph? After that it was boats, including that prefab ship hull someone put together as a free component. Good fun, but no, this is something different.

  • Ho-228-G-3 9.3 years ago

@TheOwlAce I don't know, she has a pretty short range to be an adequate fighter-bomber. It was Goering's brain child idea to start slinging bombs on fighters, completely destroying their advantage of speed and maneuverability. In the German Air Service of the Great War the aircraft were pretty specific in their roles. How about a stocky build of something like the Hs-129 but with turboprops or a top mounted thruster? If you do go the route of a fighter bomber I suggest making it a heavy fighter as opposed to a light one. BTW are those modded engines you use on your' birds? If they are modded, what are they, 2 x thrust? This morning I was toying with an original design, using Nickasaurus's round inlet engines I was thinking of offering as a heavy fighter/bomber. Fieseler Fi-401C Albatros. Speaking of Albatros - I noticed you don't include Fokker, Albatros, Gotha or Zepplin as aircraft manufacturers for your' alternate history story line though they were major producers for the GAS historically any particular reason?
