I have slight arachnophobia, but it is mild and I will touch wolf spiders the size of my hand, I don't know if this makes me incredibly stupid or brave.
Where I live, we have wolf spiders about five inches long (not counting legs), so do not live where I do, the more common ones are 1-3 inches long but will still scare the living heck out of someone if you find it crawling on you.
