The Mk 1.2 “Jellybean” as we came to know it was specifically revamped by IMUL to be an emergency evacuation aircraft for park rangers. In the event a ranger station or other outpost becomes surrounded by fire (and helicopters are unable to land properly due to uneven terrain), the personnel at said outpost can clear a few trees to make a rudimentary runway to evacuate themselves. The Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) capabilities of this aircraft as well as its ruggedized wheels means only a few hundred feet are required to get off the ground and get above any surrounding trees before you hit them. The small size of this aircraft means it can be folded up and crammed into a small box that can be dropped out of the rear of a designated cargo or firefighting parent plane. During the design process, our engineers thought, “Hey, what if the people that need to be self-evacuated don’t know how to fly a plane?” And to that, we responded with, “Exactly.” The aircraft was specifically designed to have controls more similar to a ground vehicle than a regular aircraft, and as such little to no training is required for newbies. The sheer simplicity of this aircraft means training is often limited to a 45-minute course that can be taken on the new pilot’s personal device. This course is mostly focused on landing.

If you’re too lazy to take the course, here’s a quick run-down:
“Turn the key to start it. Push the knob on a stick to go vroom vroom. Pull the u-shaped thing outwards to go up, push it inwards to go down, tilt it left to tilt the plane left, same goes for the right. From left to right, the indicators are as followed:

-Throttle. This is a measure of how far you pushed that little stick thingy in.

-Airspeed. It’s how fast you’re going. Simple as that.

-Artificial Horizon. You should know what this does already.-Compass. It shows which direction you’re flying in.

-Fuel gauge. Shows how much gas ya got left.

Got it? Good. If you want to land just lean off the throttle, point down a tiny bit to start dropping, then pull up a bit to not drop as fast before you hit the ground. Hopefully you should have the same amount of limbs and teeth after the flight as you did before. Now get outta here before we burn to a crisp.”
