Description


Smirnov SM-10 (NATO reporting name "Cape") is a Soviet twin-engine turboprop airliner, designed in 1958 by Smirnov design bureau in Leningrad for local routes. Intended to replace the obsolete piston-engine aircraft such as the Ilyushin IL-14 and the Smirnov SM-4 airliners on local short-range routes.
The design is a two-engined low-wing monoplane with a circular pressurised fuselage and a conventional tail. Equipped with two Nikolayev VN-2 engines, each providing a takeoff power of 4,200 kW (5,800 shp)
