The "New Andosnian Republic Super Sonic Bomber" or NARSSB model 1 is a octuple engined supersonic, high altitude strategic bomber. Designed in the late 1960s, the NARSSB-1 "Hydra" was capable of cruising for thousands of miles at speeds above Mach 3, and at altitudes over 70,000 feet (21,000 m).

At these speeds, it was expected that the NARSSB-01 would be almost immune to interceptor aircraft, the only effective weapon against bomber aircraft at the time of its conception. The bomber would spend only a few minutes over a particular radar station, flying out of its range before the controllers could position their fighters in a suitable location for an interception. High speed also made the aircraft difficult to see on radar displays and its high-altitude flight could not be matched by any contemporary Iosian fighter at the time.

The NARSSB was designed initially as a Intercontinental Strategic Bomber in the event that the cold war between Andosnia and Iosia ever came to into a fully fledged war. Earlier models of the aircraft proved to be of little success due to high stall speeds, farther set back center of mass and high fuel consumption, however in 1978 the first stable variant was produced and flown a successful 3,387 miles from Kavesgrad Airfield - Andosnia's northernmost airbase to Alkinstov - the former capital of Andosnia.
