XGP-52 "Cross-Bolt"

25.8k Graingy  17 days ago

A 1950s Graingy jet fighter prototype, meant to carry missiles. Performance was disappointing, however, and the project was dropped.

Made this on new laptop (check - it's Windows), so it was thrown together in under an hour as a proof of concept. Not a good plane at all, but it does kinda still fly.

Your mileage my vary.

    Ok. First of all, it had WAY too much drag. For a small plane, even that was too much. When I turned off throttle it was like I hit a brick wall. I would definitely turn off that. And also I would have given it some airbrakes. And a minor thing, but the landing gear slightly sticks out, which is super annoying to me. (Ik its not big, but I hate landing gear doing that). Overall it was not bad though, just a bit simplistic. (Which is exactly what you wanted)

    I remember seeing one of these at an airshow. Neat looking aircraft, despite its flaws. I seem to remember that this wasn't the only model, though, no?

    if this isn't quality, i don't know what is.

    the design, first of all, is immaculate, the curves, the cockpit, just perfect, performance and handling? awesome! it flies smoothly like a regular plane, but i could do a few sick tricks if i wanted to, and it has an EXTREMELY quick 0-60 in just 0.000001 nanoseconds, the overall score so far is... 10/10! you've trully outdone yourself graingy! you really do!

    @Graingy
    Good point. Btw, I was referring to the side. When you retract landing gear, its tire very slightly sticks out of the side. Its tiny, but I just hate seeing it.

    @TheMouse Sticks out? I'm not sure what you're referring to?
    I never checked the drag, so you may have a point. I'll have to take a look at some point.
    Airbrakes are always something I forget anyways. Actually including them, like flares, can be a challenge since I forget to leave a space for them. Old habits die hard, I guess?
    Hardly, it's been years since flares were added and airbrakes have been here since before I started playing.
