"Tripwire"
Probably named for the elevators in front of the pilot.
So I'm sure you remember
the "RE-X" line of planes, namely the RE-4 Collider and RE-6 Brawler. Now we extend the line with one of the three planes that came before both of them: the Tripwire!
This awkward design would sadly remain a prototype, but an interesting one nonetheless. And by interesting, I mean we can't help but be interested what the engineers were on. The "tailplane" placed in front of the pilot not only looks weird, but also blocks the pilot's view, so have fun using it in combat. What's more is that the vertical stabilizers are perfectly placed to make side visibility non-existent. However, in spite of the RE-3's... questionable design, it sported good cannons and its flying isn't half bad. The test pilot for one of the RE-3s even once said, "It's the best plane I've ever flown with the worst visibility I've ever seen." REX engineers would take this into account while making the RE-5, which we might see eventually.
Trivia
-Despite being far, far, FAR from the first plane I posted in 2025, the Tripwire was the first plane I designed and built in 2025. That's what moving on New Year's Eve does to a man. So uh, yeah, just remember this is how we started 2025 lol.
-The RE-3 is the third aircraft in the line of the RE-X series, as the "3" in "RE-3" hints at. However, the RE-3 was the first RE-X plane to actually fly: the RE-1 crashed before it could even take off (pilot survived thankfully), and the RE-2 was cancelled just two days before its first flight due to lack of funding. However, both of these failures actually helped the RE-3 succeed, as it was given sturdy landing gear to avoid the RE-1's incident, and it was built small to avoid the RE-2's problem.
-I originally wanted to name the plane "Bullpup" due to its odd layout, but the trigger (cockpit) is in fact not in front of the ammo, moreso on top of it.

@CrestelAeronautics Fair enough, like I said, moving on New Year's Eve does something to ya lol
@TheUltimatePlaneLover
Makes sense
Though:
You could have angled the guns downwards and kept the same part count.
Or make it look like a DB Shotgun.
cough cough IL-40 cough cough
@CrestelAeronautics Actually, the RE-3's guns were specially designed to avoid gunsmoke going into the inlet, although difficult to model due to the "simple" aspect.
But even that had an issue: said method involved angling the guns, so have fun aiming the realistic RE-3 lol
@TheUltimatePlaneLover
Seems similar to my SKHX-4.4 (Improved), at least, because of the elevators.
Also:
You’ve got another MiG-9 situation
Good plane tho
@M109simp @PrussianAirWorks I heard peeps these days like canards, so I invented something better
What in the actual..
Wh-w-wu-Whut is this
