P-65K-3

929 IssaIwan  5.3 years ago

A design from 1938 (XP-65-K) that would later serve America well during WWII and the following years until it got outperformed by many jets. A basis to the P-65, this aircraft was something else. It got better engines and some design tweaks as time passed, but by 1947 when the war in Europe ended as all allied powers gave up due to their inability to break through the small German line to Berlin, this aircraft dominanted almost all other designs. It was maneuverable, could still operate well if the top wing was completely destroyed, fast, and durable due to its size. These attributes applied with every design. What you see now is the 1948 design, separate from the popular 1946-47 you would see as a racer. It is armed with 2x 20mm Hispano cannons.
