Lore

Overview

The Odin-class aircraft carrier is the Lykanian Navy's newest class of carrier. At nearly 1,100 feet, they are Corvantis' largest warship to date. With an airwing of nearly 80 strong, Odins are the flagships of Lykania. Constructed in the mid-late 90s, the first Odin-class carrier, the LNS Odin, entered service in 2005. Since then, it has been joined by 11 others, with the final ship of the class, the LNS Spirit of Lykania, currently undergoing trials. Together, they will replace Lykania's Ascendant-class carriers from the 60s.

Background and Development

The plans to begin constructing a future replacement for Lykania's aging Ascendant-class carriers began in the mid-1980s. The first plans for what would eventually become the Odin were drawn up by 1987. The final requirements were completed by 1994 and the following year, in 1995, construction of the first ship of the class, the LNS Odin, began. The Odin would finally be completed 8 years later, being launched in 2005. During that time, construction of the second and third Odins also began. These ships would deploy in late 2005 and mid 2006, respectively. Over the next 20 years, Lykania would build 9 other Odins. Today, 12 of the 13 carriers are already in service, with the final ship expected to complete its trials in early 2026.

Operational History

The first Odin-class carrier entered service in 2005. The LNS Odin would begin its deployments in late 2006. In 2013, the LNS Odin (CVN-36) and the LNS Ionella I (CVN-38) would be deployed to Mawali to participate in Operation Dagger's Tip, conducting multiple strikes on hostile positions. In 2020, the LNS Cartago (CVN-44) and the LNS Odysseus I (CVN-40) defended the Sea of Siana from Libertine forces during the Cascadian Uprising. The following year, the LNS Impoluto (CVN-47) would be deployed to southern Andarissia during the Andarissian Civil War. In late 2025, during the Nightfall Wars, the carriers Cartago, Turrialba, Odysseus I, Amanda I, and Paul I were evacuated from the Sea of Siana following the Libertine missile attack. While all of the carriers were successfully evacuated, the LNS Paul I was hit by a Libertine missile, wounding 33 sailors and putting the carrier out of commission for the rest of the conflict. Filling in for Paul I, the LNS Turrialba (CVN-41), LNS Valhalla (CVN-42) and the LNS Impoluto (CVN-47) led Lykania's charge back into the Sea of Siana, eventually paving the way for Operation November Ajax.

Gameplay

Finally, I managed to complete this thing without absolutely nuking my laptop. My friend group suddenly got hit with carrier fever and we all just started building carriers. Anyways, here's mine. It's really just a knockoff Gerald R. Ford with some minor tweaks here and there. I really did want to go all out with this thing, but it eventually got to the point where with every piece I added, my laptop cried out in pain. I decided to compromise and add as much detail as possible while, unfortunately, cutting out much of the gimmicks and moving bits. No working elevators, barriers, or CIWS. Only the missile launchers still work. Everything else is fully static in order to save performance cost and my laptop. Not to mention it is also fully rigged for Ocean Mod. Still looks great for screenshots or just playing around, though. I'll tell you that. Speaking of, this is the scaled down version. The actual 1:1 version was too big for me to accurately make thumbnails for, so if you want to download and play with the 1:1 version, you can find it here. Besides that, hope you enjoy it.
