Mk 1 Shotgun

147k Pilotmario  8.3 years ago

The standard shotgun of the Pilotmario Army. Issued primarily to guards, riot police, vehicle crews, non-comissioned officers, and troops in urban combat. Due to the nature of shotgun shells, many types of ammunition were developed, and included buckshot, buck and slug, door breacher, teargas, and rubber pellets, as well as more exotic ammunition. It was controversial for the severe wounding effects of its high-explosive fragmentation, and "dragon's breath" incendiary round. The former turns the shotgun into a grenade launcher, while the latter turns it into a flamethrower. Both had frightening wounding effects; the fragmentation rounds were known to cause severe explosive trauma, leading to the loss of limbs. Because of this, it was viewed as an "inhumane" weapon by Olympian and IJ United forces, who often executed soldiers found with shotguns because of it. Despite this, it was popular among soldiers and marines.

@Dstroyer101 It was considered, and trials were successful, but it was deemed superfluous to requirements; frag rounds can blast away sheet metal like nothing, dragon's breath is a flamethrower, and everything else works fine.

It was also deemed to not be lethal enough, and would mostly cause nonlethal wounds.
