On 28 December 2014, the Airbus A320 flying the route crashed into the Java Sea, killing all 162 people on board. The cause of the crash was determined to be a combination of factors, including the malfunctioning of a rudder control system and the crew's inadequate response to the situation. The malfunctioning system caused the plane to roll and eventually lose control, and the crew's inappropriate actions, which included pulling the plane up instead of maintaining a steady climb, worsened the situation, leading to the crash. The investigation also found that the crew's training and preparedness for handling such emergencies were inadequate, contributing to the tragic incident.
