MODEL INFORMATION
T-40 (Sorokovka, Sorokan) is a brand of wheeled tractor produced by the Lipetsk Tractor Plant from 1961 to 1995.
The tractor is designed for plowing light soils in gardens and greenhouses, processing row crops, for working with a mower, a stack thrower, a snow dump, as well as for transport work. The tractor has a semi-frame layout with a carrier gearbox and a rear axle. The engine is mounted on a half frame rigidly connected to the gearbox crankcase. The tractor was produced in four-wheel drive (T-40A) and rear-wheel drive versions.
According to the test results of 1970, the wheeled T-40 turned out to be one of the best tractors in terms of reliability! It is not surprising, because it is simple, which means it is reliable and made with a margin of safety!
In summer, the engine overheated and "spat oil" through the exhaust, in winter, on the contrary, it was necessary to insulate the hood so that the engine would reach operating temperature. Starting in the cold season was still a task, and regardless of whether the tractor was started by an electric starter or a "starter". It was cold in the cabin in winter. The cabin, by the way, had an interesting feature - a wooden roof covered with a tarpaulin, over time this structure fell into disrepair and the owners already made a metal roof on their own, usually from galvanized.
The advantages of the car were much more. Especially after the all-wheel drive modification appeared in 1965. The machine has two independent power take-off shafts, one at the back, the other on the side, on the right side, many of the mounted and trailed agricultural equipment fits it.
They are still actively used. In the fields, of course, rarely, they have been replaced by more modern, convenient and economical equipment, but municipal municipal services in small towns still have enough of such tractors. Small farmers also have enough of them, because it is not a problem to find spare parts for it, and the price of these tractors on the secondary market is more than affordable.
