History

The BSAP-800-131-I bomb is a semi-armour piercing bomb developed by the Karyan Union in 1931. Its primary purpose was to for its large strategic bombs to engage strengthened targets such as cruiser and battleships from relatively high altitude. Unsurprisingly, hitting targets from high altitudes was not a good idea. It found its new purpose as bombs for dive bombers, level bombers, and fighter bombers.

Description

Geometry

The bomb shape is a tear drop shaped designed for punching though reinforced concrete and upto 120mm/4.7inches of face hardened armored steel. At the rear of the weapon, it features a securing lug for the rear stabilizer.

Guidance and Stability

All the bomb has for stability are static stabilizing fins designed to increase accuracy.

Weapon Platform Compatibility

The weapon features a pair of locking lugs at the top of the bomb.

Warhead

The warhead is 150kg/300lb of Composition G HE, with the rest of the bomb as the fragmentation bit. There is a rotation based fuze at that doubles as bomb whistle as well as a timed base fuse located at the back of the bomb.

@X99STRIKER there’s a detacher inside the bomb, select the cockpit and use the part connections tool, you should see it. Kinda inconvenient actually, but I guess it works.
The point of a bomb whistle is purely for intimidation, just like the Jericho Sirens on the JU-87 Stuka. It’s just that much more scary to hear a high pitched whistling sound while on the battlefield, only getting closer and closer until it eventually impacts. Basically, it lets you know that you’re absolutely screwed before it even hits.
