Podhopper mark 5 crane & box

278 LtzAsk  5.0 years ago

Here she is: the mark 4's successor; the podhopper mark 5! Improved the frame, the tail, the wheels, well...just about everything. Balance now is near perfect and added a boatload of details and decals, but the best is yet to come; it now has a crane-system! Save the added boxes as separate aircraft and you can have your very own flying containeryard (striped box might be a bit heavy on the mobile systems, in that case use the white one)

MANUAL AND LOADING PROCEDURE.
AG1 emergency disconnect
AG2 lift crane
AG3 winch
AG4 magnet
AG5 boxpushers
AG6 crane drive
AG7 main engines
AG8 gyro
VTOL tilt rotors
TRIM trim + all ag-functions

LOADING; lift crane (ag2), raise gear, activate crane drive (ag6) and drive crane over box (for reverse use main engines, 2% power is enough) deactivate crane drive, deactivate crane lift, activate boxpushers (ag5) deactivate boxpushers, activate crane lift (ag2) lower crane, activate magnets (ag4), raise crane 25%, lower gear, lower crane, activate boxpushers, deactivate boxpushers, deactivate raise crane, activate main engines. You're now loaded and ready to fly (ag's 4, 7, 8 active) either take off like a plane or verticaly. Unloading can be done with landing, or from the air lowering the box with AG3. Hover power should be around 57% (gets less with less fuel) have fun!

That’d do it. Just enough to cause a little bit of trouble.@LtzAsk

I noticed this as well. I’ve been testing it’s long-range capability’s and I’ll notice a 10-15 degree difference from start to finish(ex: 250 degree start 265 degree at end). I turned off the trim and it was a noticeable difference, however it still drifts 2-3 degrees starboard. @LtzAsk

Really like this. Nicely done with the balance. The tilt rotors make it really easy to maneuver on ground as well, allowing a reverse function to the crane maneuvering. All in all, nice build!

@LtzAsk yeah it took me a minute to really understand the instructions, next time I would suggest making controls in list form. Also, the only thing I didn't understand was what the AG5 "boxpushers" are
