The AMX 50 project was initiated in the late 1940's as a possible MBT for the newly revived French Army. In total, there were five prototypes, the most famous ones being the 50 100, 50 120 and the 50B. The latter was different from the previous two as it had a cast hull and the improved Tourelle D.
Originally planned to be a medium tank, the AMX 50 would later be redesignated as a heavy. Much of its design was heavily based on the German Panther and Tiger II tanks (a few Panthers actually saw service within the French Army).
The French Government was very close to giving it the green light for mass production in 1955. Plans also called for producing a special variant for the Bundeswehr. However, due to the high production cost and mediocre reliability (caused by many difficulties during its development, especially regarding its engine), the AMX 50 project was canceled in 1956. Instead, France chose to buy old M46 Pattons from the US.

Designed as an attempt to revive interest in the AMX 50 project, the B2 was a modernized version of the B1. It featured a new ventilation system and improved rangefinders along with new APFS-DS ammo.

AG8 (activated by default) for turret and gun and AG1 for the cupola MG.
