GCP-MR Caracal

7,895 GCPrototypes  3.4 years ago

I've created this aircraft starting with a drawing, using as inspiration the Stipa-Caproni, an italian expermental plane with the peculiarity of the "circular wing". The name "Caracal" refers to a species of cat known for catching birds in flight with high jumps.

[Fictional story] The GCP-MR (Multi-Role) "Caracal" is an experimental fighter-bomber, designed to use a double circular wing design. That was studied for increase the performance and reduce the wingspan, in order to be able to store lots of this planes in a relatively small space, like carriers or small airfields. The results of the tests were quite good: The aircraft was fast and agile, but even if the production was started it was never used in action.

Good fly :)

@KangaKangaTheRoo You have to place two identical parts in the exactly same place and then you have to rotate one of them on its Z axis...

@GCPrototypes yeah but what I really want is a half fuselage that k can use as wheel wells and a 45° flat beveled corner for the fuselage, would make a lot of things so easy

@Mixx well, I think that isn't possible..but it would be cool if players can add their own textures on their creations, it would be easier to create decorations and paint jobs than using actual pieces.

@GCPrototypes probably not....but maybe it, if you could crack into the system files for the fuselage mesh texture, you could maybe get it right
(but this is coming from someone who knows nothing about programming)

@Mixx I didn't know you could import textured skins into Simpleplanes. Is it actually possible?

@GCPrototypes probably import a textured skin file into the game that messes if up for anyone on ios

@Mixx I used this method... Probably there are better ways to do it.

@Mixx This method only works with fully circular fuselages. You just have to place two identical parts in the exactly same place and then you have to rotate one of them on its Z axis.
