The Barnett M28 AMR is a Paternian .50 BMG bolt-action anti-material rifle developed by Robert "Robbie" Barnett, who later founded Barnett Small Arms. Barnett by trade was a small filmmaker who made B-movies in California. He was contracted by the Paternian Army to make a promotional film about their new Rapid Reaction Force in 1983. During the filmmaking, he was impressed by the firepower of the M2 Browning machine gun on the jeeps. However, he was disappointed that nobody had made a rifle which could fire the powerful .50 BMG. Despite his lack of experience with firearms, several years of trial and error resulted in the M28 anti-material rifle. The first customers were Unity Defense Corporation, who purchased 250 for trials purposes. Orders from other nations poured in, and the rifle saw multiple improvements, mostly in accuracy, ergonomics, and modularity. This is the latest M82A2 variant, with adjustable folding stock, Leopold M5 10x42 magnification scope, and Barnett-designed bipod derived from the M60 GPMG bipod.
