Background

The MSA 28 is a compact, fast and lightweight attack boat specifically designed to assault bigger fleet groups. Designed in 1934 by Studio N° 18 led by Ing. Primino Migliavacca and built by Cantieri Navali Italiani Uniti (CNIU, United Italian Naval Works) , it filled the gap in fast attack crafts created by the aging MAS 15 - 70 line.

It carries two Mod. 41 Torpedos and has one 37mm remotely controlled auto cannon

First deployed in the morning of 16 August 1937 to assist in the Battle of the Nile,it proved to be quite good at protecting its mother fleet.

Its last important deployment was in 1942, during the assault on Gibraltar.

Later,it was slowly fased out in favor of Torpedo-carrying planes.
