Pummeler A-1E Attack

147k Pilotmario  7.9 years ago
Auto Credit Based on Pilotmario's Pummeler A-1B

Press (1-5) to release underwing ordnance. VTOL UP for airbrakes and spoilers, and VTOL DOWN for flaps. The most extensive upgrade to the Pummeler since the A-1B. All control surfaces have been enlarged in order to reduce wing loading in order to increase maneuverability. The aircraft is armed with six 30mm M9 cannons, capable of firing faster than the M2 machine gun and possessing greater hitting power than the M8 cannon. A new cockpit was also fitted, giving the pilot better visibility. The most important change however, was fitting a T2000-3/2B radial, featuring 50% more power than the original T2000 powerplant. While the top speed of the type has not changed, the degree which loads affect performance is reduced. This means the A-1E is able to climb much faster than previously. As all A-1E are new-built aircraft than refurbished machines as in the case of the -1B and the -1D, lighter and stronger materials could be incorporated, reducing cost and weight while increasing airframe strength. The A-1E is slated to enter mass production and service with the Pilotmario Air Force. The Pilotmario Marines will continue to operate the older A-1B and A-1D until PAF orders are filled.

@GoldenEagle Yep. We still use them. To go to the front and blow up oversized Persian tanks.

Good maneuverability, enough bombs to level several city blocks, and they're as tough as honeybadgers. Need I say more?

@Pilotmario props are still being used by Paternia? This is unusual, but it would be great for a scout role, or a Low-Tech role, I would make props for my Air-Force

@Pilotmario It is still quite impressive how much ordinance you've stuffed on to this thing though. I will give it that.

@Pilotmario That is true. While good, the A-4 is more complicated and harder to produce. Which could be a problem due to my pending entrance into the war against the Teutons.

That plane does have 33% more horsepower compared to this. The Pilotmario High Command knows the Pummeler isn't the best plane against twin-engine attackers. However, the Pummeler is available in large numbers and is good enough. @Thej611

@Pilotmario I have done some flight testing between this and my Buffalo Mk IV and determined that my Buffalo is better. It is faster and more agile. And carries only a slightly smaller bomb and rocket launcher load in favor of some guided missiles.

Certainly. Despite the age of the basic design, it is the most feared aircraft in our arsenal. Sometimes the sound of the engine is enough to make enemy troops scatter. @Lukaf

There is a saying every time the Pummeler is upgraded 100 more tetuonic soldiers die

@PINK Yes, we still use them. Your mountain troops love it when they hear that these things are going to give them air support due to its highly accurate and precise attacks.
