Megalith was one of the five known superweapons created to protect Earth from the Ulysses 1994XF04 asteroid, and the third originating from Usea (along with the Stonehenge Turret Network and a spaceborne anti-asteroid laser system). Very little information is known regarding Megalith's development; considering the size of the installation, however, it can be assumed that Megalith required considerable time, resources and manpower to complete. According to ISAF intelligence, the facility was finished around the time of Erusea's capitulation on September 19, 2005.[1]The existence of Megalith was kept top-secret by the Erusian government to avoid scrutiny from the other Useannations, which had maintained hostile relations with Erusea for some time. The international community had been critical of Erusea's facist, militaristic government before, and those criticisms would only intensify if it was known that Erusea was developing a superweapon with offensive capabilities.[2] It is unknown whether or not Megalith was operational on July 3, 1999, the day Ulysses made planetfall.
