History

The iconic F-14A Tomcat, introduced in 1974, was the US Navy's premier fleet-defense fighter, designed to counter Soviet bombers and anti-ship missiles. Armed with the advanced AN/AWG-9 radar and up to eight missiles, including long-range Phoenix missiles, it offered unmatched capabilities. However, it was plagued by issues with its TF30 engines and challenging flight characteristics, leading to frequent failures and accidents.
