The PAK DP

Russia’s next-generation long-range interceptor, set to succeed the MiG-31. Built for speed and endurance, it features twin high-thrust engines surpassing those of its predecessor, optimized for rapid climb and extended patrol missions.

Its internal bays can carry either two R-36V heavy BVR missiles for extreme-range engagements or eight R-77 missiles for standard air combat roles, supported by four R-73 Archers in side bays. While not built for dogfights, its primary advantage lies in reach, altitude, and reaction time.

Currently under testing at the 929th State Flight Test Centre, the PAK DP is expected to secure Russia’s airspace well into the future, countering high-speed threats and emerging aerial technologies.
