This is an upgraded version of my previously built A6M2. It is better detailed and has animated cockpit.It is painted in V-103 camouflage, used by Saburo Sakai.This plane is stationed in Canberra war memorial. Australia.

HISTORY:
A6M2 was developed in 1940 (0 year in Showa calendar) by Mitsubishi’s engineering bureau lead by Dziro Horikoshi. It was named A6M1 “Rei Sen”, which means “Zero fighter”. Most primary problems were resolved on A6M2 modification.
Called by allies “Zeke”, several squads of A6M2 21 participated in attack on Pearl-Harbor.
A6M fighters were probably the best fighters of the Pacific war theatre. Perfect maneuverability, good speed and armaments gave unique opportunities for the experienced pilots. But “Zero” had a fatal disadvantage — it was extremely fragile. Because of this, the number of new pilots’ deaths grew dramatically, not able to evade bullets.
During the war, especially at Midway, most experienced Japanese aces were killed and amateur pilots took their place, but they had very little chances.
On the late stages of war A6M often was used by Kamikaze.

ACE:
The most effective and famous Japanese ace Saburo Sakai piloted A6M planes.
Sakai has achieved at least 64 aerial victories.
Saburo Sakai managed to operate his A6M and return to the base being hit by 12.7 bullet in his head. He lost an eye but after several operations made by best Japanese doctors, returned to duty.
After this he achieved victory fighting alone against 15 American Hellcats. During the fight he successfully evaded their attacks and retreated to his AA cover being undamaged.
At the late war Sakai became a test pilot and tried A7M fighter.
Sakai survived the war and lived till the 2000th year.
