Azores Airlines, previously known as SATA Internacional, is a Portuguese airline based in the municipality of Ponta Delgada, on the island of São Miguel in the autonomous archipelago of the Azores. A subsidiary of SATA Air Açores, the airline operates as the international arm of the regional network, connecting the archipelago intercontinentally from its hub at João Paulo II Airport to destinations in America and in Europe. The company operate flights as well from its base in Lisbon.

About the Airbus A310:
The Airbus A310 is a wide-body airliner designed and manufactured by Airbus Industrie GIE, then a consortium of European aerospace manufacturers. Airbus had identified a demand for an aircraft smaller than the A300, the first twin-jet wide-body. On 7 July 1978, the A310 (initially the A300B10) was launched with orders from Swissair and Lufthansa. On 3 April 1982, the first prototype conducted its maiden flight, and the A310 received its type certificate on 11 March 1983.

About CS-TGU:
CS-TGU was the first A310 to enter the SATA Int’l fleet, and the 2nd last to leave the SATA fleet. The A310 could carry a good number of passengers over a long range, making it ideal for flights from Portugal to North America. The aircraft was named Terceira, after the volcanic island of the same name in the Azores archipelago.
This specific aircraft had its first flight in 7/2/1991, was 29.5 before the end of its life, and was tested at Toulouse-Blagnac Airport (TLS/LFBO) with the test registration of F-WWYM. It’s MSN is 571.
