2K12 Kub-M1 Mobile SAM Complex

18.8k plane634  2.1 years ago

Haven't posted anything in a while so have this SA-6b anti aircraft missile complex.

It has manual aim, controlled with VTOL and Trim, there's auto aim though, albeit a very basic one. Also this build requires Tracks 2, although a version with wheels is available below.

The complex consists of :
1x SURN 1S91 radar vehicle
3x 2P25 TEL vehicle, each carrying 3x 3M9M1 missiles.

Description

The 2K12 "Kub" (NATO reporting name: SA-6 "Gainful") is a Soviet low to medium-level air defence system designed to protect ground forces from air attack. Each 2K12 battery consists of a number of similar tracked vehicles, one of which carries the 1S91 "SURN" (NATO designation "Straight Flush") 25 kW G/H band radar (with a range of 75 km (47 mi)) equipped with a continuous wave illuminator, in addition to an optical sight. The battery usually also includes four triple-missile transporter erector launchers (TELs), and four trucks, each carrying three spare missiles and a crane.

The system is able to acquire and begin tracking targets using the 1S91 "SPRGU" - "Self-propelled Reconnaissance and Guidance Unit" / NATO: "Straight Flush" radar at 75 km (47 mi) and begin illumination and guidance at 28 km (17 mi). IFF is also performed using this radar. It can only guide one or two missiles to a single target at any time. The missile is initially command guided with terminal semi-active radar homing (SARH), with target illumination provided by the "Straight Flush" radar.

This system would go on combat duties primarily in the Middle East, participating in conflicts such as the Yom Kippur War, 1982 Lebanon War, and most notably the 1991 Gulf War with the Iraqi Army, in it's service life it got a varying degree of success, with it scoring kills against F-4s, F-5s, A-4s, and even an F-16, but being susceptible to jammer pods, anti-radiation missiles, and low flying attacks.

Note

You'd have to stay on the radar camera in order for the missile to lock on and guide itself to the target, for some reason the radar lock would be lost if you're not using the radar camera and since the missiles are using the Guardian as a basis it'll lose it's tracking as well, sorry for the inconvenience but it is what it is unfortunately.

There's also no fourth TEL, there are 3 reasons :
1. My PC is literally going to die
2.
3.

Controls :

WASD (Pitch and Roll for mobile) : commit move
VTOL : horizontal rotation
Trim : vertical rotation
AG1 : ready the missiles and search radar
AG2 : auto-aim
AG3 : close the lid thing on the front of the vehicles
AG4 : anchoring, holds the vehicles in place
AG5 : spin search radar
AG6 : lock search radar (use prior to retracting search & track radar and when moving)
AG7 : lights
