Hello everyone, it's time to present the unusual project I've been working on over the last few days. Let's dive right in...
-What is this?
A tailsitter with a cylindrical wing powered by an engine that is split into a regular jet and a rotating detonation engine.
A completely ordinary plane, am I right?
Anyway, aside from the weirdness, this thing is a fairly agile fighter, thanks to its low weight and decent speed. However, don't expect to win an engagement against anything loaded with missiles.
The design doesn't have a basis, though there might be some resemblance to the C.450 Coléoptère, otherwise I wanted to build something that looked like those nazi experimental planes from late WW2.
In terms of performance, it's capable of 800 km/h, and it weighs about a ton, not much to say on this front.

Pretty please!
Also, to operate the rotating detonation engine fire the cannons.

As the great Titenian war nears its end, a strange craft appears on radar over Erthian territory. The NAF dispatches two C3 jet fighters to intercept the object, being the only aircraft fast enough to reach it as it travels at 800 km/h. Upon locating the craft, both pilots are left puzzled. They find that what they have intercepted is an alien aircraft, but upon looking into the cockpit, they realize the pilot is human and inquiring about a safe landing location. The craft is escorted to the closest airbase, sparking confusion and curiosity among onlookers. Once the pilot exits the aircraft, he is taken directly to an interrogation room for questioning. The pilot is revealed to be Vince Isse, a Minorsian aeronautical engineer. After confirming that he poses no threat to Erthian officials, he is allowed to recount the events that led him to fly into enemy airspace with such a plane. During the conflict, the Erthian air force conducted numerous bombing missions over Titenia, a dictatorial regime that had previously established a vast empire to eradicate "lesser individuals." Titenia was struggling in aerial combat not due to inferior skill but because constant airstrikes targeted their airports, rendering traditional aircraft unusable. Officials in Titenia sought a new type of fighter capable of vertical takeoff and landing while achieving extremely high speeds. Vince, while under duress, was coerced into leading the project due to his research on a propulsion system called "rotating detonation," which could produce thrust more efficiently than the outdated jet engines recently deployed. He designed a tailsitter equipped with a gyroscopic stability mechanism to assist pilots during landing, featuring a circular wing that, along with the new engine, could potentially enable the aircraft to reach Mach 1.2. For speeds below 500 km/h, a traditional jet engine would still be utilized, while the new "RD" engine, paired with the tube-like wing, would facilitate a primitive scramjet operation. Once the target was reached, the plane would be armed with two pairs of guns positioned on the sides of the cockpit. The government promptly commenced construction of the prototype, yet unbeknownst to them, just two days after its inaugural flight, both the aircraft and the blueprints vanished. Vince had utilized his limited piloting skills to escape the country with the plane, effectively outsmarting the Titenian government by orchestrating his own weapon of deflection, unwilling to supply arms to the regime oppressing his homeland. His intention was to impress the Erthian high command with his design and pitch his concept just months following his initial interrogation. However, no interest was shown by the government, as the aircraft he had used to flee fell short in performance. Firstly, the plane was incapable of reaching Mach 1.2, and it couldn't even achieve transonic speeds. Additionally, Erthian manufacturers were already developing experimental aircraft that could fly supersonically with more conventional designs. The prototype also contained multiple design flaws that were deliberately incorporated to prevent Titenia from effectively utilizing it in combat; simple redesigns would not rectify these issues. Thus, with the concept remaining unproven, Vince's visions for an airborne tube army disintegrated.

u must be a french to make this, mais oui but u must have my upvote
@CalebRepublic well, thank you so much! I'm really glad you've enjoyed it :)
Oh my, this is very creative. I love this so much. I wish I could have thought of making something like this. It seems like it will be so fun to fly. Well done adding a fun plane like this to the game!
@MarkTheDesignGuy
Unfortunate that it wasn’t a metal pipe bossfight
Anyways, here’s the rating:
Detail: 8/10
Performance: 7.5/10
Weapons: 4/10
Extra: +3/5
Total:
19.5/30 (+3 extra)
Pretty good. Very interesting concept. Only thing I would reccomend adding is mabye some weapons hardpoints. It’s pretty manuverable too. Interesting concept for propultion, but it didn’t seem to increase the speed that much. Other than that, pretty good!

@SPWithLizzie all hail the T U B E
Oh my god what is that
Interesting
I’ll test it soon
