瑞聯航空股份有限公司(U-Land airlines),簡稱瑞聯航空 was a defunct Taiwanese airline and one of the earliest airlines in Taiwan and even Asia to experiment with the low-cost carrier (LCC) operating model. U-Land Airlines was formerly known as China Asia Airlines.

On its inaugural day, U-Land Airlines broke with Taiwanese aviation industry convention by launching a groundbreaking "NT$1 ticket" and a buy-one-get-one-free promotion: buy a one-way ticket from Taipei to Kaohsiung and receive a free return ticket, quickly attracting widespread attention. Subsequently, they launched a new slogan, "800 NTD to Kaohsiung," emphasizing that tickets were only NT$600 to NT$800, a significant price difference compared to other airlines' fares on the same routes, which often exceeded NT$1,000, creating a substantial impact on existing airlines.
In terms of product design, Swiss United Airlines adopted a strategy different from traditional low-cost carriers. Their McDonnell Douglas MD-82 aircraft featured LCD TVs on the backs of each seat, providing multimedia entertainment services, and even external cameras allowing passengers to enjoy real-time views during the flight. However, with a flight time of only about 50 minutes from Taipei to Kaohsiung, the high-end in-flight entertainment significantly increased costs, contradicting the core principle of low-cost carriers: "simplified services and reduced operating expenses."
Although Swiss United Airlines' pricing strategy did attract a large number of passengers, with its load factor reaching approximately 90% at one point, the company still faced significant problems in its operational strategy. Despite its low ticket prices, Swiss United Airlines failed to establish a truly low-cost operating model. Not only were its aircraft mostly purchased rather than leased, resulting in heavy capital expenditures, but its in-flight services were also excessively expensive, severely compressing profit margins.
Ultimately, due to a combination of factors including an immature market, heavy financial pressure, excessively high operating costs, and strategic missteps, Swiss United Airlines declared bankruptcy in 2001, becoming the first airline in Taiwan to go bankrupt. Its closure left a significant mark on Taiwanese aviation history.
Despite its short operating period, Swiss United Airlines is still considered a key pioneer in the development of low-cost carriers in Taiwan and Asia. Its experience in successfully attracting passengers, as well as the lessons learned from its failure, have significant historical and industrial implications for the subsequent development of LCCs in Asia.
