Title : Pr 238.4.
Other name : As 44 Advanced.
Type : torpedo bomber.

short description.

Single-engine, twin-engine (but with four propellers) fast coastal torpedo bomber. The aircraft has very high speed for a propeller and a serious torpedo load.

history

The plane was developed in late 1944 as a new torpedo bomber. The main reason for this was the fact that, despite their great survivability, the old planes had suffered heavy losses. The main reason for this was the large amount of time spent in the enemy's air defense zone. The old planes were not very fast at all.

The new design got rid of this problem. With the new torpedo, which was stronger and more stable on course, it was possible to drop it at speeds of up to eight hundred kilometers per hour. With all the innovations a new tactic of torpedo strikes emerged. The ,,Dagger Strike,, also known as dive torpeding . The planes would approach at a high altitude and, when close to the enemy ship, would dive. Almost on the water level, they dropped the torpedo and, having exchanged speed for altitude, went up again.

This technique had been practiced on older planes, and when it turned out to work, the construction of new torpedo-carriers began. However, only a small series was built. The aircraft had radar to detect enemy ships in fog and out of sight. (that strange protrusion on the right wing) .The plane showed difficulty in piloting and difficulty in aiming. However, it was able to show increased, if not combat effectiveness, then survivability.

During the last months of the war, after suppressing most of the enemy fleet, it was used as a heavy fighter. Though not very effective, the fact that the plane was able to intercept the small remnants of aviation killed the enemy's morale.

(The plane provided here has two marks of successful sinking of enemy ships and two marks of successful shooting down. It also has the number 33 on the back of the fuselage. This is the squadron number.)

5000 m : 840 km/h .

Flutter Threshold : 934 km/h(But the early signs appear at 750 km/h)

Max altitude : 12000 m .

some instructions

  1. the plane feels a little bad on the ground . Try not to stay there too long.
  2. the torpedo is a little hard to hit without training. It is heavy and will float underwater for a while after dropping. It can pass under the target. So throw it from a distance (but not too far). It takes experience.
  3. You have dropped the torpedo. What next? Run! It's a big bertha and it explodes very powerfully.
