Some Information

The Lightning Aircraft Industries XR-78 is twin-turboprop, General Aviation aircraft that was build in August 2003 and first took flight a few days later. The aircraft was designed to be a four-seater, be particularly fast, float on water and to be very comfortable. It also had a section in the back of the cockpit for any luggage. The cockpit is also fitted with the most up-to-date instruments and radios for general aviation aircraft, and a very open canopy. The XR-78 was put into service in September 2003. It became a very popular aircraft, having sold 600 models by March 2005, with this number continuing to rise.

Controls

AG1 - Strobe and Beacon lights
AG2 - Landing Lights
AG3- Nose Wheel Steering (Use only when taxing)
AG4 - Jet Engines For Water Takeoff Procedure
AG5 - Bake Flaps For Water Landings
VTOL Down - Flaps
G - Landing Gear

Takeoff and Landing

For Takeoff from RUNWAYS, set flaps to halfway, then increase to full power and wait to reach 130 MPH (105 Kt) then pull the nose up and lift off.
For Takeoff from WATER, make sure Landing Gear is retracted, then set flaps to full, and activate AG4. Then increase to full power and wait until 150 MPH is reached (also keep the wings balanced). Lift the nose at 150 MPH and keep holding it up till the aircraft lifts off. After getting some decent hight, decrease power to 0%, deactivate AG4, then increase power to full again.

For landing on RUNWAYS, approach at 145 - 140 mph with full flaps, and Gently touch down at 135 MPH.
For landing on WATER, use the same procedures as landing on RUNWAYS, but try to touch down at slowest speed possible (but you can use whatever speed you want), except activate AG5 on touch down and hold B

Creator Notes

This aircraft was originally going to be based on the Seawind 3000, but due to issues that shall not be named, that wasn't possible. Also, the two images at the top of this page were inspired by Chancy21's images in some of their more recent builds.

Another thing to mention is that it is best to not have full flap when the landing gear is retracted as the landing gear will stick out through the flaps.
And also, when you have full trim, it is necessary to have a very tiny bit of flap as the trim just isn't strong enough to hold up the nose by its self.

Plus, you can customize this aircraft anyway you want, like putting a drag parachute on the back for landing on water if you want.
