Quick side note:
This tank was supposed to used a custom drivetrain that I’ve built complete with the gear sprocket and suspension, however the suspension didn’t work, the gear sprocket didn’t spin, and the tracks themselves were stationary and for looks only. They would’ve increased the parts count to over 1000+ parts so I dropped them last minute, I’ll link them in the comments in case you’d like some track links.

The AMH.45 Thunderbolt is a second generation MBT of the Royal Army. It was the first “proper” MBT of the Royal Military after retirement of the AMH.103 heavy tanks. It featured NBC protection, a 105mm rifled gun, and night vision capability. It was operated by several nations and was replaced by the Thunderbolt II in the Royal Army and Royal Marine Corps.

Kitsune
The Kitsune is a modernized variant of the Thunderbolt. Using the AMH.45A4, which had several improvements to the Thunderbolt including a longer 105mm gun, upgraded optics, and a new powerpack. The Kitsune was a joint project between the OGDF and the Royal Marine Corps to upgrade their Type 21 and AMH.45A4s respectively. The OGDF dropped out from the project after theirs became too heavy and due the introduction of their new Type 37, the RMC continued on and adopted ‘Kitsune’ to all of their upgraded tanks. Since the AMH.45A4 lacked the spaced armor of previous Thunderbolt Is, it had a bigger disadvantage against shaped charges, and thus the addition of ERA was added on to the hull and the turret. The gun was replaced with a 120mm smoothbore gun. A 130mm gun was planned, but it would’ve removed the co-axial machine gun, and the ammunition was too large and would decrease the number of rounds carried. A CROWS was mounted several years later as the Royal Marine Corps continued to utilize the Thunderbolt I even with the introduction of the Thunderbolt II. Kitsunes would still serve into the future mostly in other countries and for defensive use by the RMC.
