The rugged Nikolaevsk Aero IV!
Designed for the rugged north, the Aero IV was a single engined, high winged, passenger monoplane built in 1932. Being the first all metal design from the Nikolaevsk Group Limited, the Aero IV could seat 8 passengers in the lower cabin, and 2 crew in the cockpit.
Fitted with a Dalson D450 9 cylinder radial engine, the Aero IV could achieve a cruising speed of 108mph at 8,000ft, and a maximum airframe speed of 137mph. It was praised for its slow stall speed and great low speed control, and was a perfect fit for most northern airlines at the time.
Production was ceased in 1938 with 58 airframes being completed including 3 prototypes. The last airframe believed to still be in airworthy condition is N998G, which spent 20 years hauling fish in Alaska before being sold to private owners.
This is my first build! Any feedback is appreciated! Love Tat
(I had originally designed her with the intention to build a interior for her, but my hectic life kept me from devoting too much time to it.)
