The Niva (body code VAZ-2121 for the three-door model and VAZ - 2131 for the five - door, at various times also produced under the names Lada Niva, Lada 4x4 and Lada Niva Legend currently) is a Soviet and Russian off-road vehicle of a small class with a load-bearing body and permanent all-wheel drive. It has been mass-produced since April 5, 1977 (until 2006 it was sold under the name VAZ-2121 "Niva" in the domestic market, and as Lada Niva in export markets, from 2006 to 2021 under the name Lada 4x4, from 2021 - Lada Niva Legend).
